Alternate Proccing System That doesnt Alienate 80% of the classes in the Game.

After spending countless years tweaking, nerfing, adjusting, nerfing, giving nothing to drk and pup and then some random buffs to make sam more BA and increasing the effectiveness of certain classes that were once hated (DRG) the game seemed to go back to step one with ABY. I dont have "fat lewt" and "AF3+2", in fact im "lolpinkblugearwithnoalmacefail" but it doesnt take all that to realize the major flaws of aby. Aby brought many good things to FFXI: the most important being incremental progressions vs camping nms for 3 days. However, they couldnt of been any more wrong with the proccing system.

Currently the trend is your either NIN,WHM,BLM,MNK, or WAR or GTFO. Now this isnt the staple for everyone since you only need this well rounded setup when low manning. Low manning requires a little more skill and dedication for a larger payoff (less ppl = less loot shared = AF3/Trials done much faster = profit) but requires most if not all these classes to hit most procs effectively. So what happens if your not already one of these classes? LolrollWHM.

What never ceases to amaze me is that SE had a proccing system right under their nose, its what we call a "Skillchain" Make more skillchains and require corresponding elment skillchains/bursts in order to trigger weakness = more combinations of classes = INNOVATION! that and not shunning the other 13 or so jobs in the game. The other thing is doing away with atmas when bringing out the level 99 content. To those of you that disagree, i understand your thoughts but the better characteristics of each class and roles are much better rectified without them (Any decent EVA class becoming a EVA tank with the right atmas e.t.c. e.t.c.).

    TLDR:

    1. Replace the proccing system with a interactive and expansive overhall the the already included Skill Chain system in the game giving the other 13 classes that dont include WHM MNK WAR NIN BLM more use and abolishing the possibly stagnant bandwagon classes to others that wouldnt enjoy playing them.

    2. Do away with ATMA or add the new endgame outside of abyssea.

Old endgame, slightly older endgame (has some pieces worth getting) and voidwatch still has proccing. So you have two forms of older endgame which you either get relic or currencies for accessories and WoE has some sought after pieces but mostly are stepping stone upgrades. Meaning none of those 2 give current needed drops (Af3+1 and 2 and dont compare to world drops from regular bosses in aby. The one that does (Voidwatch) STILL uses procs DESPITE being outside of aby (methinks.) So none of those three are the reason for this thread.

um but all three procing systems encourage all jobs to proc, as any WS, spell, or enemy trageted JA have a chance to proc. While some jobs are capable of doing well in certain things (ie. DNC is the best JA proc, RDM is probably the best casting proc job, and WAR likely the best WS job) the thing is that every job has a unique ability or spell or WS that can be the proc.

Ergo it is highly relevant because once you leave the cozy confines of abyssea, any job can be a proc job, and all jobs have at least 1 proc that others do not.

(as for WoE a lot of the new stuff comes from there, it is still very relevant. neo-dynamis is relevant as it is a great way to make gil to buy more relevant gear and procing increases the gil/time ratio, in addition to that there is relic weapons to consider as well. VW is the new endgame, it is where most of the best stuff drops. Abyssea is not the game, and it is the only place that has such a limiting proc system.)

Thanks mage, seems i herped before I derped. I just realized that yellow is amongst the most annoying to proc and red is only technically for atmas and key items. So in realizing this after AF3+2 (and some nice world drops in aby) it seems red and blue proccing is really all you need. Outside of abyssea (VW) i just recalled why warrior was a multi proc job (atma of the sea daughter) without it you cant exactly hit all the procs....which makes any job a proc job. Well than, seems all my whining was without understand the mechanics of it all. My only question that remains: When looking on ffxiclopedia and a boss has key items that a tagged with a red proc (and obviously currencies for af3+2 with a yellow tag) is that for giving you the chance to get the KI and Seals or does the mob still drop the things in question just with a lower chance (red) and less seals (yellow) when the procs arent met.

the mobs have a chance to drop the items regardless for the most part. Procs just increase the chance of it dropping. For red procs in abyssea for example it increases the chance of getting a K.I. to 100%. (or it may be less ive never not got a K.I. from red proc'd mobs). But everything still has the chance to drop K.I's.

Yellow seems to increase the amount of seals/coins etc dropped (in abyssea) not the amount of a specific type, essentially it adds more "item drop" slots to a mob. But they all have the chance to drop without yellow too.

Blue is like TH on roids, it greatly increase the chance of weapon/armor drops, while a mob may drop without it, it does help greatly when trying to get an item. For example going 1/37 on my Charis Necklace because I couldn't get lucky enough for a dagger blue proc.

have to agree with the op on this one.. seeing as my main jobs are drk and dnc.. both which I'm normally stuck begging people to let me join in thier groups or hoping my friends are on.. the only thing i see with the sc procing.. is the classes that can sit and solo their lvl2-3 sc's.. but overall i like this idea vs the having only 7 jobs do the procing..
