Its a trasition period for FFXI, you do realize that right? Everything cant be made and done perfectly right away. They have to take the updates slowly, and adjust things as they progress. Theirs no sence in updateing content to lvl 85 or introducting to much new content, when they no they have more level increase to come. Youll have to wait till an update or two AFTER the 99 cap has been reached to realy see where the game will be headed.

So then what's to keep players around for that long?

They aren't showing us much promise

Edit: I don't want to play at level 99 if VW and it's shit drop rate and system is the only way to get gear

Dude, all the gear in Abyssea is god like, literally.
So what if you have to work for gear with Voidwatch when you can get super OP Empyrean and stuff like the Loki's Kaftan, Twilight stuff, etc.

Saying don't do Voidwatch because aby gear is better?

Or do voidwatch because you already got easy stuff?

I actually do Voidwatch because it's the only way up for my WAR (even though most of it is barely an increase), since I literally have everything aby has to offer my WAR, except maybe 6% of both PDT and MDT dark rings
