Why not have high level versions of event equipment???

It would be great if they made it stack or combined it into 1 piece of gear somehow. As it is, I never use it because once I give it to the storage moogle, I completely forget it exists.

I don't quite understand this topic, you're asking for "fashion gear" that is actually USEFUL? The folly..Utterly preposterous to think SE would EVER think of mixing those 2 together, it's always been, the prettiest gear is the most useless while the most terrible looking gear is popular, look at things like Kyodogi, back in the day people spend millions for that thing, and it was NEVER good, but it looked awsome. and things like weskit for blm made you look like a deranged amazon but it was the best nuking peice before morrigans.

Alot of the current Af3 gear sets are questionable at best as far as looks go, like BST Af3 looks like comepelte crap (IMO) but it has unbeatable stats for BST.

I would just prefer they skip the pattern of "get NQ event item with no stats, then wear it while talking to NPC to finish event quests and get the 'useful' version." and just give us one item at the end of the event sequence instead of giving us two items to take up space when one of them has no benefits and both look the same.

I was going to say melee mages in general, but the forums tends to focus on Red Mage and Summoner melee more. I guess White Mages tend to either be less vocal, or less numerous, at least on the forums.
