    Game Controller failure!

    This has been a known issue since the beginning of time for pc users using an xbox controller to play FFXI.

    "The bumper buttons cannot easily be assigned the same button settings as on ps2 or xbox360 while on a pc".

    The game or the way that microsoft has made their adapter for xbox360 controllers, to my understanding, see the bumpers as a coordinate plane rather than buttons... (like a joystick would be).

    I would love to be able to use the bumpers while on pc. Is there any way, through SE, or additional patches for the product that this can be achieved?

    I just purchased an xbox for windows controller when my old logitech one broke only to find out that I have to make a new button layout because the triggers are viewed as coordinates. ; ;

    And to top it off, the force feedback option doesn't work. I contacted SE support for help with it and they said it must be a port failure and to unplug then reconnect my controller; if that doesn't fix it I have to contact Microsoft for help.

    I should have saved myself a few $$ and bought another crappy logitech gamepad.

    I know there is a mod out there, or was at some point in the past, that mod's the controller values, so that you can get the right settings going... But I lost it years ago. So if anyone knows how to go about doing this, I'd love you long time!

    The logitech controller I had came with a program that would let you reassign the buttons. I was hoping there would be one for MS controller too. The closest thing I found is a program called Pinnacle Game Profiler. It looks like you can do the same thing as far as reassigning the buttons. So I'm assuming you can just make your left and right triggers act as Alt and Cntrl keys and pull up the macro book that way. That would fix my button layout, but what about my force feed back?! XD

    Google XBCD. It's a replacement driver which makes the triggers behave as regular buttons. If you're using vista though it's gonna be a pain getting it installed.

    What about Windows7, will it be compatible?

    Dunno, i'm using vista. I think win7 is better than vista though.

    It's "compatible" but vista won't let you run unsigned drivers, and the only way to get a driver signed is to pay microsoft. So in order to get it to work you have to run through some hoops and put windows into "test mode" so you can run a driver you signed yourself.

    http://www.katch.ne.jp/~morii/driver/x360c/index.html

    Those are the drivers that I use. They are a little tricky to set up, but once they are in they work perfect.

    also, here is the thread that I originally found them in. http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/gam...i-howto-4.html

    Or you can just hit F8 and disable driver signature enforcement every time you boot.

    Also, only 64-bit windows enforces driver signing. 32-bit windows will complain when you install the driver but will use it anyway.
