Thought I'd throw this out there for SE to consider, alongside the one being conducted via POL. Granted, there will be some duplication in the results here, as a user doesn't have a way to filter out those who have voted through POL, and it may not accurately capture users with multiple accounts on the same platform. It's more to get SE thinking about doing something here so we may also be able to tally users currently not trying to log into POL/FFXI due to issues with their account status that may not be resolved until Character Reactivation and various other issues with billing/account transfers are resolved in the coming months.
Basically, I'm going to create a post for each hardware/software environement being used. Note, that it is to track the Platform used, and not just the Client. As in, MAC, LINUX, and PC would use the Windows Client, and both the PS3 and PS2 use the PS2 client. Want to see what operating environment is being used, not just if it is/isn't the PS2 client.
Simply go to the post for the hardware you are using and like that post, so we can get a general picture of what mix of hardware/OS is actually being used to play the game.

You are asking people who use a computer if they are on a computer looking at this poll...
This poll is not going to get you any answers because you are limiting the people who can actually contribute to those who speak English, understand English, on one system, asking if they use that same system, and limiting those who either don't come to this website for information or really look at specific forums (this one).
In other words, let Square Enix do their work. If they choose to release the information, then they will release it whenever they choose to release it. Stop trying to do their job for them by your biased polling methods.(2)
09-01-2011 06:28 AM #9There are people on these forums who play on multiple platforms, some who only play on a console. Just because they have a computer/laptop they may use for the forums, doesn't mean they are playing FFXI on that same PC/laptop--I myself browse on a laptop and play on a PC. I know one couple that used to play as a family on 4 systems, 2 PC's, a PS2, and an XB360. We know one poster here who plays on the PS3 and browses/posts in the forums on her PS3 (Rosina).
And, as stated in the OP, I created this as something for SE to maybe consider doing in addition to what is being done through POL, as they likely won't be getting results from players currently unable to get in game for various reasons tied to issues with the current system--but they are still visiting these forums, some still actively posting. If we get a decent enough talley of players in the English forums, it may give them some food for thought to try to collect data another way to gather information the current survey is simply going to miss as it is not tracking a large section of players that currently may not be participating through no fault of their own (ie: New Zealanders and other areas who have gotten blocked from current payment methods and stopped trying to get into FFXI until they change the billing options).(1){DISCLAIMER} Posts may contain opinions based on personal experiences that are not be meant to be taken as facts.
