Nothing more annoying then main job pup having to keep multiple x12 stack of this.
Not that having 3-4 sets of gear to do the job. But this is unreasonable.
PLEASE stack them to 99 like other consumables.

they already said no
ZOMG YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STACK THEM UP TO 99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to add to this petition. It makes sense.
they already said no. How many times do I need to type this. They used the general BS excuse of game balance
This excuse is neither acceptable or even believable, unless they can also provide a specific example of how increasing the stack size to 99 would be unfair to any other job class. The ONLY other job that uses ammo for the same purpose as pup uses oil is bst, and there's no way in hell they can argue that letting us have more inventory space for repair would somehow make repair stronger than reward. (Note: this post is not a stab at you, bob. It's just pointing out all the flaws in the logic SE's used.)
Repair:
Level: 15
Recast: 3:00 minutes (meritable down to 2:30)
Effect of repair:
Level 15: Automaton Oil: recovers approximately 10% of the pet's HP and recovers an additional 100 HP over 30 seconds. Stacks to 12
Level 30: Automaton Oil +1: recovers approximately 20% of the pet's HP and recovers an additional 400 HP over 60 seconds. Stacks to 12
Level 50: Automaton Oil +2: recovers approximately 30% of the pet's HP and recovers an additional 900 HP over 90 seconds. Stacks to 12
These all come from a single recipe (alchemy 28) requiring incredibly high levels of alchemy to produce efficiently because the alternative oils are HQ results, rather than separate recipes, at a maximum of 6 oil, 6 oil+1, and 6/9 oil+2, while also requiring one incredibly high level sub-material (level 83 alchemy to produce polyflan) and one sub-material requiring a 10,000 GP Key item (Plasma Oil needs iatrochemistry), and both use flan meat, that only drop from level 73+ monsters (73 is the lowest level flan) for the synthesis.
Number of items that enhance repair: 2:
Guignol Earring: +20% to regen potency
Desultor Tassets: +10% to regen potency, if augment is chosen
Number of items that augment repair: 1:
Puppetry Babouches: Adds a remedy/erase effect to repair
Compare to Reward:
Level: 12
Recast: 1:30 (1:15 with merits)
Effect of Reward:
Level 12: Pet Food Alpha: Restores roughly 70 HP instantly, as well as adding a regen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 9 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants that are all available in the newbie zones, and resulting in a full stack from every synth
Level 24: Pet Food Beta: Restores roughly 180 HP instantly, as well as adding a regen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 19 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants that are all available in the newbie zones, and resulting in a full stack from every synth
Level 36: Pet Food Gamma: Restores roughly 300 HP instantly, as well as adding a regen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 29 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants that are all available from just outside the newbie zones. 6/8/10/12 per synth, depending on HQ level.
Level 48: Pet Food Delta: Restores roughly 540 HP instantly, as well as adding a regen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 39 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants that are all available in the newbie zones. Stacks to 12. 6/8/10/12 per synth, depending on HQ level.
Level 60: Pet Food Epsilon: Restores roughly 750 HP instantly, as well as adding a regen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 49 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants that can all be obtained from the areas around jeuno, from monsters of level 25-40. 4/6/8/10 per synth, depending on HQ level.
Level 72: Pet Food Zeta: Restores roughly 900 HP instantly, as well as adding a regen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 59 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants that can all be obtained from the areas around jeuno, from monsters of levels 22-35. 4/6/8/10 per synth, depending on HQ level.
Level 84: Pet Food Eta: Restores a minimum of 1200 HP instantly, as well as adding ar egen effect. Stacks to 12, made from a level 69 cooking recipe requiring ingrediants of roughly the same difficulty to obtain as those required for automaton oil. 4/6/8/10 per synth, depending on HQ level.
Pet Roborant: gives the pet a remedy/erase effect. Stacks to 99, made from a level 28-29 alchemy recipe requiring moderately obnoxious materials (Ca Cuong, a level 73 fishing catch that can only be caught in Grauberg S, and scream harvest, which can only be obtained from chocobo digging, harvesting, or gardening (1-4 per plant)). 33/66/99 per synth, depending on HQ level
Pet Poultice: Gives the pet a 5 minute regen effect which restores 1% of the pet's HP every tick. Stacks to 99, made from a level 40 clothcraft, 32-36 alchemy recipe that requires one mid-level synthesis ingrediant (holy water), but is otherwise incredibly easy to obtain. 33/66/99 per synth, depending on HQ level.
Number of items than enhance Reward: 12
Beast Gaiters: HP restored +10%
Ogre Gloves: HP restored +10%
Ogre Gloves +1: HP restored +11%
Pallas Shield: HP restored +5%
Zoraal Ja's Axe: HP restored +10%
Beast Gaiters +1: HP restored +10%
Monster Gaiters: HP restored +20%
Monster Gaiters +1: HP restored +20%
Ferine Earring: HP restored +2%
- note: total possibly potency increase is 57%, unless it caps at 50% like cure potency. I'm not a bst, so I have no idea
Bison Warbonnet: Reward Recast -10 seconds
Brave's Warbonnet: Reward Recast -10 seconds
Khimaira Bonnet: Reward Recast -15 seconds
Stout Bonnnet: Reward Recast -15 seconds
Number of items that augment Reward: 2
Beast Jackcoat: Reward will additionally remove paralyze, blind, and poison
Monster Jackcoat: Reward will additionally remove weight, slow, and silence
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining about repair vs reward. The above comparison doesn't account for the various recovery attachments pup has access to, namely Auto-Repair Kits I and II, and Eraser, nor the puppets' ability to heal itself through cures(stormwaker and harlequin frames, unless, spiritreaver head is equipped) drain (spiritreaver head equipped, or cannibal blade (valoredge frame).
Nor, for that matter, am I complaining about the differences between bst and pup pet upkeep. They're both totally different jobs. I'm merely tearing open all the holes in the one plausible example for why allowing automaton oils to stack to 99 would affect the balance of the game.
Hell, I don't even have a massive problem with the difficulty level of automaton oil, due to the absolutely absurd amount that can be made from a small amount of ingredients, compared to the amount of pet food made from the same amount of ingredients. However, that absurd amount of oil also eats up an absurd amount of inventory space, and I don't exactly have a pocket alchemist to get my oil from whenever I need it, nor do I want to get it in bulk, because I don't have a spare 99 inventory slots to keep my oil (99 is the amount of oil that can be made from 3 chunks of flan meat, 1 mercury, 1 chimera blood, 2 water crystals, an earth crystal, a lightning crystal, and 500 gil worth of flaxseed oil (ie: 33x each ingredient for automaton oil, if EVERYTHING gives normal quality). I do think that it's stupid that all three oils come from the same damn recipe, though.
Also, Camate mentioned the devs working on something in another thread about a new JA to remove 1/2/3 status effects on the maton depending on oil/oil+1/oil+2. (Nothing official yet.)
That means a considerably larger oil usage, 12/stack will simply not cut it then.
"Puppetmaster was our last best hope for peace. It failed.
Now it's our last best hope.. for victory!"
I typically keep at least at least one stack of each oil on my person at all times, so it would help immensely. A beast doesn't need to have one of each food type for a whole number of reasons (see theytak's lovely post.)
It doesn't hurt to ask a little more.
Link please? I don't recall seeing this.
Can't see how being able to hold 99 of an item that relies on a 3min base JA timer is doing anything to game balance though. Is it also unbalanced to let NIN toolbags or ammo stack? The ONLY point of increasing oil stack size would be to reduce inventory clutter. I already keep a couple extra stacks of 12 in my mog sack.
