    Pet Defense?

This is not a -pdt question, but rather a generic pet: defense one.

My question is simple enough; how much of an effect do items like the Primal Belt (+5 Def) and Beast Bazubands(+5% def) have on a pet?

On a player, for instance, the effects would be pretty minimal or even insignificant. Is it different for pets?

There will not be an informed response to this question.

No one has enough information to tell. Situationally, I'm confident it makes significant difference... but I'm also confident it makes none just as often.
We really don't know enough of the mobs attack or defense to find the ratio and how much the pet def gear will help. the pdt gear is much easier to figure out and much more effective.
I do remember stacking enough pet def gear on clot pets even from level 75~80 to get 0 damage from trolls occasionally. I could see the difference then.

That's really interesting. I always assumed defense was as useless for our pets as it is for players, particularly when the bonuses are often stuff like +5 without even a percentage point. I guess I have to go pick up a few more things for my "Idle with Pet Engaged" set, now.

I less-than-confidently assume that monsters use exactly the same equation when hitting pets that Beast Master pets use when hitting monsters. In your far, far more educated opinion, is that a safe bet?

I still feel that it makes a difference. In the hand slots, I can't think of anything better to toss on with my pet focus set. Unless they've added something to E.hands (and checking... they haven't added a significant aug), Beast Bazubands are prolly the way to go. Better a slightly significant buff than none at all. If only they didn't drop from that terrible NM... he's not hard but I was lucky he was up when I felt like checking and went 1/1 on them. XD

As for Primal Belt I don't have a separate macro set for Pet Def/PDT versus Pet M.Def/MDT. I slam them together on one macro set since most of my MDT gear is via DT- (except for Selemnus Belt) so I don't really use Primal. Axes I just change manually. :P

I feel that just like player defense, you'll only notice a difference after stacking alot of it. I don't have beast bazubands or primal belt, but my shield of choice when single wielding is Pallas's shield (pet def +10), and I honestly see no difference whatsoever with or without it. Thing is, I'm not even sure there's enough pet def gear out there to make a real difference.

I'm pretty sure you can get a good +60 def on pet. I know you could get at least +45 at level 75. However, I've not done it, so I really can't say. I think thats enough to make some difference, but it all depends on what you are fighting ofcourse.
