    Overloaded with a fresh puppet

What is the deal with overload not disappearing when you deactivate and reactivate your puppet?

If you have maneuvers up and deactivate the maneuvers disappear. If you overload and deactivate you remain overloaded. This makes absolutely no sense since being overloaded only hurts the puppet and not the master. This needs to be fixed.

Overload, in some techinical sense, does reset when you deactivate/recactivate your pet, but the affect, if still on, after overloading on your previous pet will still remain on the new one. In regards to your question, "What is the deal with overload not disappearing." It's not the fact that it isn't disapearing, but when your pet is activated, this is one of the peeking points in which overload is at its highest burden. Square Enix, with its notoriously stupid ideas, created the system to be where when your pet is Activated basically all attachments, that are job abilties, are down and overload is high in order to make it more difficult to do things spontaneously after activate because it would "Over power" the job in some sense. All though you do start off with high overload when your pet is activated, it does decay faster than normal overload would at any other time. Using this website will further allow you to understand how overload works if you look through it completely http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Overload

So in summary... Overload does reset after deactivation, but when you activate you will begin with a new high amount of burden in which will decay completely in about 2 minutes of waiting, but if you have all the up to date overload gear and of course the new job ability (Cool down)... this won't be much of a problem and you can use manuevers right when you activate your pet.

Is it 2 minutes for activation burden to completely dissappear? Doesnt seem that long to me but time flies as the saying goes and I have never tested it. Learn something new everyday. ^^

Shinron-PUP i think you mis-understood the posting. I am completely aware of having a high burden when you activate, but i wasn't talking about burden or the act of overloading. As i stated in the original posting "What is the deal with overload not disappearing when you deactivate and reactivate your puppet?". I asked about overload, not burden.

I was refering to the fact that when you overload with the overload icon on your screen, if you deactivate your puppet the overload icon remains (when you deactivate with maneuvers they disappear), and you are therefore still affected with the overload status. And if you activate while still having the overload icon you are still restricted and are unable to use maneuvers even though you have pulled out a new puppet.

Has it been considered that the Overload status might not actually apply to the Automaton? I know it sounds silly, but when you overload, it says "<PlayerName> is Overloaded" instead of "<Pet> is Overloaded".

What if (and this is merely speculation), Overload is actually part of the Animator? I've always thought of the Animator being some kind of game controller, and instead of the Automaton being inflicted with Overload, it's actually the Animator itself. When the Animator Overloads it erases all Maneuvers and stops communicating with the Automaton.

In fact you control your automaton with brainwave through your animator.
You are overloaded, not your automaton, changing your automaton will not cure you from the status effect.

People. The puppet does not get overloaded, the player character does.

When you gain the overload status effect it is placed on the player and lasts for a set duration based on how far over the burden cap you've placed yourself.

Deactivating will not diminish this timer at all, and Activating puts your puppet at the standard 'freshly activated puppet' level of burden. The reason the icon is still there is because the timer is set on the player character as soon as you overload.
