Because you have to have them claimed and at low HP to take pictures? That's not as simple as you think when you're getting beat on? If you're not attacking them and you're solo, they will unclaim, and if you're attacking them and they're at low HP, you'll eventually kill them and have to fight another. If you have a friend with you, they can just hold it and backtank while you snap away. It's not "hard", it's just an annoyance and makes it take longer than if you were taking pictures of something lower level of a different mob type. Yes, different jobs are better/worse at this, but not everyone has every job leveled.

Taking pictures takes time. It's not like taking a ton of pictures for zeni + killing a whole bunch of NMs isn't time consuming, which is my real point. How is taking tons of pictures and killing a whole tree full of NMs beffer than "camping an NM"? Really. I want to know.

I dont no if it was changed or not seeing as i never did these back in the day. However i was taking picture of naul today and ill inform you of a few things.

You can take pictures of them unclaimed. I was their on my thf in eva build, with C&D atma for added eva, and the top two Regen atmas. It was more then enough to be able to stand their and take his hits with out my hp ever going down. I took him down to low hp, and disengauged. I took all my pictures while i was disengauged. And i was able to hand them all in for about 100 zeni a peice. No spells, no DoT.

Any prepared player can tank a Naul.
Either evade, have a way to cure yourself, whatever.
Or if you're smart, you can just sleep it.

If you're really worried about keeping claim on it, disengage and cast a weak spell or ability.
These mobs do not hit hard at 90, anyway.

I was never arguing that ZNMs was better than waiting for an NM to pop, that was someone else's dealie.
But, personally, taking pictures isn't so bad. It's less boring and less time consuming then killing an underleveled lotto-pop 3+ times for trials, for example.
