I'd say the drop system is fine just need a way to "pool" a drop you don't want/need.

As it is it is a very earnest attempt to reward every player individually, but falls on its ass when you realize Career-WHM A has gotten 4 Radiant F mails while the WAR/DD hasn't gotten 1. The Ability to pool a drop you don't want/need won't break the damn event

Probably wanted to stop people from selling drops. See:

-atheling mantle
-various coins/stones/cards etc

I do agree it is pretty senseless to force people to not share loot though.
