Fan Fest Revisited?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty certain that at least one of the last two fests sold out. Other than an attendance issue, which I am sure isn't the case, I believe that the lack of a fan festival is because of lack of new content. Is it a coincidence that every convention seemed to coincide with a major version update or a new expansion?

All three Fan Fests they had in the States sold out. The last one in a matter of hours.
