What's this about Click & Buy?

I'm a (third time) returning player, having never gotten past obtaining a Chocobo I guess I'm still technically new.

Since returning this time, I've been hearing a lot about people's displeasure with the C&B thing? Why is that? I wasn't really paying much attention during registration but it seems like it's a pretty big issue...?

Also, could anyone help me join a LS on my server? I've asked around a few forums but only gotten one reply that wanted me to register on two different sites and fill out a form just to join... I don't know if this is the norm now (certainly wasn't the other times I played as I used to get LS groups just by /shout in Bastok or whatever...)

Basically, it simply does not work for some players for various reasons and the registration process may be too complicated requiring passport or driver's license and bank statement copies and whatnot for some people.
More thoughts on that you can find in several threads here already, though, do note that some of them may or may not be coloured by anger and makes it look worse than what it might actually be.

There is also the option to buy Crysta via other UltimatePay via PlaySpan and use that to pay for FFXI, which is the way I go since I wont use ClickandBuy, though still unsure if I will continue after August is done with. :S

Registering on 3rd party sites might be common, but I wouldn't say it's a norm, and I would not join such an LS personally if they require all that. You should always be at least a little bit wary of links other players give to you.
There is the official Linkshell Community site which you can access via the official PlayOnline site, which might have been one of the two they were talking about.

Either way, I'm sure your server also has Linkshells that do not have such a requirement.
