It doesn't take that much cruor to go get all the equipment in Abyssea and sell it for 100k+ in the shops.
I've always wondered if this was a short sighting from square-enix, this is the best way to make Gil in the game at the moment.

Doubt it was short sighted. It still takes time and effort to farm cruor, and further time/effort to buy > NPC it.
Plus its only like a 2.5:1 Exchange ratio, Which isn't really that huge. every 1mil Cruor is about 2.5mil Gil, Which is still quite some time to farm even in a Cruor burn.
Plus, equipment isn't even the most efficient way to get gil from Cruor. Look up Chocobo Blinkers. It'll save you a few trips.
Honestly from what I recall (take this ag a guess not fact) the gear used to cost more when the second avy addon was out, they had lowered it after a while, since rmt could easy make tons of gil
I think SE would have adjusted this by now if they intended to do so (like they did with the augmented weapons you can buy with dominion notes).
You are KIND of right.
Dominion notes weapons npc for about ~7k and used to cost 1k notes(or 1.5k, not 100% sure). Instead of lowering the npc cost, they increased how much to buy the weapons for (2.5k notes a pop).
Also, back when the sets first came out and no one knew how to do Abyssea, some pieces of the armor were going for over 3M on some servers. I wish I had known to sell mine instead of keeping it D;
