Thread Title: POL-3001 errors after 05:00 GMT 08/02/2011 <finally reolved, details of what went on>
Logged out in Bastok Mines Moghouse for about 90 minutes, went to log back in just after midnight my time (about 05:15 GMT). After selecting character, screen goes black and stalls on downloading data, eventually gives POL-3001 error.
Details:
Account is using security token, but has not transferred to full SE ID login yet as I am hoping SE changes policy brings back the directpay by credit card option I have been using since I started playing years ago. Nothing changed in system or network configuration during that time frame I had logged out. Billling is underway, so there may have been something that has changed at the server end that is preventing the character from loading. NOTE: I am getting all the way past character selection screen to the final step where my character would be loading inside my mog house, so it would appear my content ID is still active?
Steps:
Logged out after playing for about 90 minutes to 2 hours to watch some TV, tried to log back in and now my character refuses to load.
Checked IP logs and caught UDP exception on IP address 124.150.152.95. Reverse lookup and it reported no DNS name from dns1.square-enix.net, white-listed the IP address as this fixed the problem last time this happened with IP's 124.150.152.96 and 124.150.152.99 about a year ago.
Tried to log in again and was told the same character was still logged in (POL-3201 I believe it was). Waited a few more minutes and tried again--same symptoms, select my character that was still showing it was in Bastok Mines, black screen with downloading message, time out with POL-3001 error.
Go back and check IP traffic logs--no more exceptions. Check ARIN for details on that one IP Address:
White-listed this subnet (yes, the ENTIRE subnet) and still was unable to get in--POL-3001 error on loading character.Using 0 day old cached answer (or, you can get fresh results).
Hiding E-mail address (you can get results with the E-mail address).

Disable all security features and try again just for good measure. Still no success---same symptoms POL-3001 error
Go back to game launch panel in POL, Content ID/Review Content ID and get the message about the transfer process, try to continue to review content ID numbers and get the error message about billing is taking places and cannot make any changes at this time (figured it might be a long-shot). Logged into SEID account and had to set region and accept new agreement. nothing really showing there except for my registering for FFXI and FFXIV Beta in 2009. So, I am unable to verify anything in the system.
Logged into Credit Card site and verified $12.95 charge is pending as of 8/01/2011 to 858-7907529SQUAREENIX7, which is the usual description that shows up on my monthly bill. this is the same 3DS supported card I have used for years to cover FFXI, and has enough available credit to cover FFXI for a loooong time--no reason for that charge to be denied. No alerts from CC issuer (I am set to get alerts for suspicious activity on the account--and they are aware of this recurring payment).
Tried to log into POL again at 1:40 AM Eastern (6:40 GMT) and finally logged in this time.
I don't know what was going on...the only thing I did was whitelist your IP subnet, which did nothing to resolve the issue, and log into my SE Account and respond to a message to select my region and accept a new ToS. Did not trnasfer POL data to SEID yet, still using the POL payment system with a 3DS enabled Visa credit card.
Passing this on in case it was something to do with the SE account's region select or acceptance of the new ToS that was tripping it up, as that is the only thing I did on my end that could have resolved the issue. Otherwise, there was something stalling on SE's end or in route to the server and back to my modem.
