    Please add more AOE attacks

    Recently most jobs have gotten AOE weaponskills and BLMs have gotten even stronger AOE nukes. It would be nice if SMN could get a couple new AOE nukes as well, alternatively AOE physical attacks.

    Last one that was added was at level 19, so it was a long time ago. It would be nice with something new and fresh.

    And old worries of a party of SMN mass killing things are gone now. If you want to mass kill things, you only need like 3 WARs tops and enter Abyssea with a WHM support and a puller. So it is less of an issue if someone made a 6 man SMN party and killed monsters with AOE damage.

    While of course in theory you can just Astral Flow and hope for one restore chest per group of monsters. It would still be a little more exciting with something new in the way of Thunderspark that allows you to deal AOE damage without 2 hour.

    After all, we are lacking more in the AOE departement of the job than at physical or magical single target rages. Doesn't really have to be AOE either, can be conal attacks to spice up life.

    Speaking of conal... if you give Diabolos an antlion NM laser beam attack, I'll be giggling like a child. That attack is always so fun.

    A) Actually, you only need 1 WAR and at least 1 WHM and 1 puller to mass kill things in Abyssea.

    B) While I would love for more AoE damaging BPs, I don't think that it will be used all that much. For what purpose did people use Thunderspark? Was it for the AoE ability to produce Thunder element damage, or was it for the strong paralyze, stronger than most other sources of paralyze?

    C) Every summon already has a damaging AoE move, you mentioned it yourself, it is just that since BPs produce the same quality of damage upon single mobs at a lower price (both in recast timer and MP usage), people have forgotten the real purpose of Astral Flow. Mind you, it is incredibly cheap for the type of damage it produces.

    All in all, I think what we have is just fine. Making the level 91-99 BPs AoE enabled will limit their usage severely because of gaining extra monster's attention to the party, even though most monsters will just depop or deaggro after the avatar dies. Only on certain monsters (Darters for example) will it cause a full wipe.

    Maybe they could add a "Mana Cede" ability that makes the next Rage AoE for an extra 100MP.

    I think it would have to be a magical BP:R. Because somehow, I don't think that AoE Predator Claws will work.

    It depends on what you are comparing. SMN to BLM it might be good with less damage but not lowered because of amount of monsters. But SMN to WAR for example, it is both less damage, less often, and doesn't have any real benefit except "You can let the avatar die" which doesn't matter unless your party is WHM-less.

    I think that post level 90, it wouldn't really harm any game balance with "Fell Cleave" on avatars. It should of course be balanced so WARs still are better at it, just lower the difference between WARs 30 sec WS and SMNs 2 hour.

    Fell Cleave damage isn't reduced based on the number of mobs it hits.

    Also, WARs who Fell Cleave WS every 5-10 seconds (most of the time). Adding AoE BPs will still be limited by the BP timer, while WARs can wait until they reach either 100% or 300% to Fell Cleave stuff.

    No matter what yall say we DO need more AOE BPs either physical or magical. It doesn't necessarily has to be uber powerful as long as it does a decent amount of damage. You cannot be serious about referring astral flow BPs as AOE...every 2 hours is not a recast timer for a single AOE attack. We didn't got Cacatclysm as WS which is the next AOE staff WS, I know is not the same because the SMN itself would be doing the damage but we didn't even got that. SE should add new BPs and not be lvl 90+ exclusive because we need more powerful BPs. So they should just do what they did with so many jobs and add AOE BPs on lower levels late as hell but late is better than never.
