Reflect is already in the .dats
reflect would be a nice addition to the one and only tank job.

Idk where you've been but SE has made it clear that tanks only get defensive buffs, and MNK gets offensive buffs, thusly they are not a tank. An MP sponge yes, a tank no, as per SE. Now if we were looking at this FAIRLY and with game BALANCE in mind, then yes a MNK can effectively reduce damage AND deal it as well, which in reality, a TANK can do. It has armor AND cannons.
Please reconsider your stance on giving PLD more offense Devs, we are the only front line job that either has no stance or has no offensive buffs, when we can see that other front liners get both.
Throw us a bone here, give us a hug, do anything.

Playing Devil's Advocate, well reflect sounds just like counter but for magical spells so that would apply to MNK just like counter.
More Voidwatch in a way does create more PLD friendly content but I despise the whole stupid proc system as its a poor design solution to fixing PLD and other jobs. But I also can't think of any other way since if it wasn't for the proc system PD zergs would be all the rage.
Edit: actually Reflect as a job trait like counter would be an interesting concept even more food for thought a reflectstance that works just like counterstance but with MDB so it would actually mean something unlike DEF![]()
Or a reflect stance, for BALANCE, would have a Magic Evasion Down as it's downside, like counter stance reduces defense.
Maybe this:
Resonant Field- Recast/duration3 mins, reflects 50% of magic damage taken to the caster, 50% of the time. Magic Evasion-25.
And it's counter-part(haha)
Fearless Stalwart- Recast/duration 3min: reduces physical damage taken by 25%, evasion-25. Shares same timer as Resonant Field.
2 defensive stances, with positives and negatives just like Hasso/Seigen.
Or to even further simplify you could make one that increases pdt while reducing mdt, and the other increase mdt while reducing pdt. It would require you to know your enemy well, but what PLD worth his salt doesn't already study his enemies? These as well would be able to be used full time and would or would not share a timer, depending on the intensity of the ability, as to preserve game balance.

Is magic evasion down really a detrimental thing? I never really looked into it so if someone wants to enlighten/correct me feel free. I was under the assumption magic evasion was just related to chance of resistance (i.e. like elemental resistance works). If I am correct wouldn't increased magic damage taken or magic defense bonus reduction be a bigger detrimental cost to using the ability?
Well, I was using magic evasion since the negative effect of counterstance is defense down which is also a weak debuff. As far as I can remember magic evasion is basically a coverall resist buff, it gives(or takes away) resistance to fire, water, wind et al, all at the same time.
So you would lose overall resistance in exchange for reflecting 25% of all magic damage you take.
