SE understands what's wrong with PLD, as I and many others do. It's called Abyssea, and it's pointless to try to fix it up for Abyssea because it'll break the rest of the game. The fix is to design future content that doesn't give mages infinite MP so they can spam cure damage dealers. Plain and simple.

Actually you can also just nerf all melee jobs. It would also work, although be less popular of a choice.
I've been saying it's the mob's fault that PLD sucks, not PLD. They don't need anything other than a mob worth using a PLD on, and there hasn't been much like that for quite a while now.
Though ... a cover trait isn't too much to ask for is it?
lolol you got where I was going
inb4 melee SMN thread #59
I like the OP idea. I wouldn't mind new magic spells, a lower downtime for divine emblem would be nice too. I'd be happy with Holy II.
Being able to spam cure spells nonstop didn't really change the way things worked. DDs could tank anything pre-abyssea with relative ease and kill it faster than having a Pld. All a Pld did was give you a safety net.
What serious Plds need to do is get Aegis, Burtgang, and Ochain. Those items significantly raise the level of damage mitigation that Pld has, far beyond what any melee is able to. Even with said items though you'll never have Pld the only tank in the game it's just not the way the game is built. As it stands though there is absolutely nothing that a melee can tank that a Pld can't. Pld has its' signature uses (which is more than can be said for other jobs.) Overall if your group doesn't utilize them that's their decision, if you don't like it make your own group or form your own LS. If Pld was buffed as the only tank then it just means that another job will be put into the background. There's no solid reason to do that. Pld already has the highest damage mitigation in the game so it holds it's crown as top tank in hard fights.
New toys for Pld would be nice but we are getting them just like all the other jobs.
