Dont get me wrong i think its an awesome spell that pretty much nets what SE originaly intended to do with helix spells, that is make sch a DOT beast, and the fact that it gives this huge damage might be worth to use in some zerg fights and against powerfull HNMs as well, this makes me very happy if square leave the spell like that its limited by 2hrs use anyway (and probably by lvl) so i dont see a huge issue here but you got to admit its pretty strong and makes you wonder two things , How powerfull will meteor be , and what kind of end game SE has in mind once we reach 99 + merit revamp.
I'm pretty sure the only reason we have 2 Hours is that they are supposed to be really strong. We all know how SE operates -- you can easily assume this spell won't land nearly as well on a serious end game NM, the tic will be a percentage of the original damage, and the currently debatable bind effect may not even be a 100% hit. That alone potentially precludes it from being a spell with high usability against NMs.

Pardon me for thinking that one spell, even without the fact that its 2 hour only, would be far from enough to be considered overpowered on a job like SCH that is lacking in unique resources -- when, thinking about 2 hours, BLM can get off 3 or 4 high power, heavy hitting spells and be invincible over the course of them within its 2hr's range of effect.

Not to mention there's no telling how powerful Meteor/Comet will be in comparison.

Going back to the video, I don't think that sch has even begun to tap into the true potential of this spell. You can't see all his buffs so all we can do is assume but:

-No voidstorm used (loss of 15% damage boost from Obi and twilight cape)
-No Klimaform used (loss of 20% damage from af3+2 feet bonus with weather active)
-No Ebullience(loss of 30% damage with af3+2 hat)
-No pluto staff or magian +2 staff (I don't know the exact percentages of these. I think the hq staff is 15%? Been a while)

-Assuming the pluto's staff is 15%, that is a loss of 80% extra damage onto the initial hit. Not to mention another 15% that comes from darksday and zodiac ring. Again, these are all assumptions because you can't see his buffs.

-Also, the question arises as to whether or not this spell can be used with Immanence. And if it can, can it close a light or darkness skillchain?

-Taking the above two point into consideration, then adding the affect that it can be stacked like ja spells. It can probably also be magic bursted. So many ways just pop up into my head as to how this damage can be enhanced. Samurai's - Sengekori >> MB. Cor dark shot for an additional 20% damage with their af3+2 feet bonus. /drool....

We have one devastating spell on our hands....

Should have done so anyway for drain/aspir (I've been lazy about it admittedly).

Is the dark damage magian staff really better than the dark macc magian staff/pluto staff for drain and aspir?

We don't know that the spell will be dark based. it could just as easily be non-elemental.

No Offensive spell in this game is non-elemental, so i don't think Merton will start.

However, i was fairly certain it was going to be light based... Speculation though :|

Affinty: Dark Damage affects aspir/drain damage so yes. Accuracy does nothing for the spell's damage (aside from lowering the chance of resist).

Oh hmm i thought it was confirmed darkness magic. My bad! Although we really do need a darkness based damage spell, drain and noctohelix not cutting it!
