Funny, I didnt know SE was giving SCHs ga spells and AM magic as well.

Actually in one of the many scholar job manifestos ( I lose track there was so many) they said scholars may have the option to manifest nukes now. Which would be more powerful than black mage since they could aoe the tier 5 line. Who seriously thinks AM spells are any good?

I wonder if the dev team realizes "Merton" from FF6 was a mistranslation of Meltdown...

Either way - it's a cool name... I remember playing a version of FF6 where the Emperor tries to cast Merton on Kefka, and he calls it "Melton" instead... Sounds like he was trying to make some kind of tuna sandwich...

They said if they allowed nukes to be manifested they would have to be adjusted because manifestation does not decrease the potency of the spell based on targets hit like -aga/-aja spells do. Something Something looking into it/might consider it if adjusted etc.

I personally love the name Merton... While it was a mistranslation, it still fit the 'DON'T USE UNLESS YOU NEED HUGE POWER AND CAN ABSORB FIRE!' mode in FFVI.

So many people like to jump to conclusions and overreact. Most of the time they have incorrect information, like the poster above.

They never said that. Someone asked for the ability to do this and they said it would require a way to adjust nukes because currently manifestation would not weaken the spells the same way that ga spells do. Stop spreading false information.

With all the two hour chests in Abyssea - SCH might be the new "cleave job" for gold box/KI farming...? Depends how well they can survive a large number of mobs with just Stoneskin, but no Manawall.

Depends. Do you need to cap out amber easily, or do you need to survive? You either go /WHM for Staff WS, or /RDM for Phalanx. Of course, when SE gives all the Staff users all weapon skills there will be no reason to sub White Mage anymore outside of niche healing situations like if you need both Cure IV and -na spells (if your job doesn't have one of these), or Haste if you aren't 99 by then.

Well obviously I fully support the name Merton, specifically for its connection to FFIII US, mistranslation or not. I've always loved the name and was amazed when I read the first post about it. Thanks again to the dev team for not making it Meltdown!

And now my excitement is magnified by such a phenomenal graphic. I'm really interested to see how the cumulative effect and DoT play out.
