    Monk Job Trait

Basically, from the abyssea trigger system we learned that a monster readying a WS is a specific state of the monster.

I propose a Job trait for monk based on that specific state.

Name: make one up i don't care

effect: When a monster is in the state of "readying a tactical point special attack" if a monk delivers a successful WS, the monster is struck with an inhibit TP effect. This inhibit tp effect could be set up a number of ways, but if possible i feel this would be the best way. Unlike other effects that inhibit tp like chi blast, and Yurin:ichi, this effect would cause the monster to choose to WS at a higher % in effect changing its AI temporarily. It could be "won't ws til 200% tp is reached" and then gear bonuses could then raise the %.

In essence, the ability is based loosely on the psychological aspect of martial arts. When an opponent attacks strongly and receives immediate pain, he is less likely to ambitiously attack with a strong attack again until he has a chance to regain his confidence. It is also a concept used in training dogs =) go go spray bottle.

without a on event 3rd party tool that would be next to useless and with monster AI being well known and completely predictable your "psychology" doesn't pan out.

all and all its a bad idea leave monk alone unless its guard skill ups , or 2 tp on counters , or a way to reduce our damage taken without a loss in dps we do not need it.

what the hell 3rd party tool are u talking about? I dunno maybe english isnt your first language, or maybe you skim read and allow craziness to fill in the words you miss, but either way i think you completely missed how this trait works. Ima boil it down to simple for you so u don't get confused anymore.

Monster readies TP move> Hulk (the monk) smash (with a weaponskill)> Monster is scared to use another TP move

Devs will not mess with in game AI. so any idea requiring them to do so is moot example PUP.
also for short ready tp moves and spells for YEARS people have been using whats called an "On Event" tool i.e. soon as your chat log sees " Sweeper readies Meltdown" you cast stun same principle for tp moves. now apply that to your JT and add in the fact that alot of moves cant be stopped and you see a glaring flaw. Not mentioning the devs would have to create a new game mechanic to do so unless you want it working off the proc system then they would need to use voidwatch short term procs. even then the trait would be over powered or pointless due to holding tp to ws making you do less damage.

There, fixed it. Now you made a coherent contribution to the discussion.

Ok now for the rest of that...

#1 if you READ my OP, you will see that i stated there are many possible ways to implement the inhibition of TP. I suggested 1 possible way that i liked, but implied that there were other ways you could do it if my suggested way was troublesome. I stated it in this way because i know that the devs dont liek messing with AI. I think the AI way works the best, but it doesnt have to involve AI.

#2 What the hell do cheaters have to do with anything? So some people have a computer program to play their video games for them. So F&%$ing what? Doesn't have anything to do with anything. Its hardly a "glaring flaw."

#3 I dunno what they would have to implement. But neither do you. Its still not a reason to hold back the suggestion. I.E. neither of us will know til the suggestion is looked at. Either way, it didn't seem like they would have to create a new game system or anything. The fact that abyssea !! procs do not work while a monster readies a TP move, implies that "readying a TP move" is a state of being. Therefore, rules can be added to that state.

#4 how can a trait be BOTH overpowered and pointless? Contradiction much?
Anyway the intent of your statement was received and since it was the only valid contribution to the topic, i will try to form a rebuttal.

Even if you never held your TP you would still find times when you just happen to have tp at the right moment, so it wouldn't be useless. And if your a good player, you can actually put this ability to work. I personally play without filters. And I do quick math while im playing. Logging in my head how many people are attacking and wat kind of tp they feed and how much tp the monster gets filtered by my knowledge of the monsters WS patterns to end up with a rough estimate of when the monster is gunna TP. With this information i can easily choose short times to hold TP.

Also, let me go ahead and add another argument you might make and give my rebuttal for it.

My rebuttal: Some monsters are immune to a lot of stuff. Thats part of the game. You get a set of hard rules then various means to augment them and then throw those rules against monsters that have their own tricks for bending the rules. Just because it isn't optimal on sooome NM's doesn't mean it isnt worth having. And even in those situations you could use a low damage WS like shoulder tackle to BOTH stop the current WS and delay the next WS from coming. By doing this you would lower the frequency at which damage can be absorbed. Creating a larger window for yourself and other DDs to freely deal damage and simultaneously reducing the risk of absorption. All in exchange, for a some tp and healing the monster a paltry amount of dmg.
