SE Fails at support so maby one of you knows.

    Edit:
Okay I bought FFXI when it was new 2004, I bought each Expansion when they were new.....

I never bought any of the 6 addons.... =(

If I buy them on SE website it will cost 60$!

If I get the whole damn thing on steam I get them for 20....

But the question is: Can I update my ORIGINAL account with the steam information?

    Original Post:
Okay since I just spent an aggravating hour setting up all their website nonsense ill keep this to the point.

    All addons = 60 bucks

All addons + Whole game On steam = 20 bucks

Steam gives you 2 Keys one for the Game+everything except abyssia... and 1 for abyssia.

Can I buy the game on steam and just add this information to my square enix account and gain access to the addons I dont have on my original 2004 account... Or for being such a loyal player have to shell out 60 bucks to get it all.

What would be best of all is if i could just add the 6 addons i DONT have then hand the spare copy of the core game + expansions to a friend and try to grow the community but thats just wishful thinking im sure.

I myself bought the abyssea collection on steam to get the 3 previous add ons and the two abby add ons i did not own. Steam gives you 2 codes 1 code for the game/add ons that u register, and the second code which you can redeem for your fancy hat.

What i did was buy it on steam and after which I soon found I couldnt right click the game to simply get the codes (which is what i was paying for) so i intialized the download and stopped it when it got to about 1% and lo and behold when i right clicked FFXI in the steam client there were options for looking at the codes associated with your game purchase. Both codes are clearly labeled as to what they are for.

Simply go to the place on the FFXi front page in POL where you would normally register an expansion/add on and input the code from the steam abby collection.

You will then be prompted as to whether you want to have this code apply to all the add ons you dont have and confirm that you would like to do so and bam you should be done and at teh game start screen all add ons should be highlighted rather than greyed out.

On the off chance they are still greyed out after redeeming the code I've seen documentation here and there from SE that sometimes registering expansions/add ons requires a POL logout to take effect. If thats the case for ya simply log out and log back in and all should be right with the world

if you would like to redeem your code for your fancy hat that is done in another area on the FFXI front page in POL. Should be where you would redeem the code for your tidal talisman if you ever did that.

I'm not sure if it's yet in effect, but you may need to use the Square Enix Account Management site to register those additional codes instead of the POL Viewer (as far as I understand it).

And like said, yes, you can use the codes from steam with an existing account to add add-on content or expansions.
However if I remember right, which is what Alpheus is saying as well I think, you can not give the code away though, as there is only one code for the game, and the expansions/add-ons in the new releases.

So there are no individual codes for each product, but rather 1 code to the whole set, so if you use it to activate content on your account, the code should then be used up, and 'locked' into your account.

That is if I remember correctly.
    I hope this helps!
