Wings of the goddess installation problem..

Alright, so I'm pretty new to this game. Maybe 10 days in. and I wanted to try out dancer, so I try downloading WOTG. I bought it, and checked to see if it was active. It clearly says that it, my other DLC's, and my character are all active. But when I start up FFXI, it says: "Expansion pack data has not been installed. You cannot enter areas that require the expansion pack data" So I pull up to where it says "select character" and to the right, my 3 other DLC's are lit up. WOTG is not. I'll say this again, I went to the ID page, and I cannot buy it again, and it says it's active. all of my other friends are just as clueless as I am... Help? D:

Each of the main expansions from Zilart to Wings of the Goddess were individual releases with seperate installations. Only the add-on scenarios (A Crystalline Prophecy thorugh to Heroes of Abyssea) don't have an installation process--files for those get downloaded with regular updates and you just need the codes to unlock them.

Did you buy a collection on DVD, or get a download package? If you are installing from DVD's, you may have to install each expansion seperately, depending on which one you got. If you got a download package, you'll need to run it's installer. I haven't seen the Ultimate Collection installation in action, but you may have to select which pieces you want to install, or it may just run on rails and do them all in one shot. But when I installed the gold edition a long time ago, it was an automated install on rails, but it still went through and installed everything seperately....POL, core FFXI files, then ZM, then CoP.... it took a while.

Did you install the data for it? The ID isn't all that's needed. Unlike the later addons, which are downloaded via version update, this is a fullyfledged expansion you need to install the new zones and mobs and stuff. You should be able to either download it from the site you got the WotG from or use one of your friends discs.

That means you need the WotG discs to actually install the data for the expansion.

If you buy anything through POL, you are just geting the Content ID, which is only needed if you've bought a used copy of the media or something like that (ebay and the like). If you have a local friend that has the game, you could use thier disc I guess. Gamestop might still have some copies of the expansion or the original collection.

Since you are on the xobox, you might have to resort to ebay, Amazon, or Newegg though.

Individual codes are for sale on POL Viewer because you could have bought a used disc to play on your platform, and may have installed the game data, but not had a code for it. They also had starter discs for a while which included just the core game, and install data up to Aht Urhgan, so you could buy the expansions later if you liked the game.

Your best bet would be to find a used disc on Amazon or the like.
