I do agree some earlier versions of AVG were pretty crappy. The last few releases have substantially improved, though. AVG is still lightweight compared to Norton.

I have tried AVG, Avast, Avira, Zone Alarm, and of the ones I have tried the least intrusive is Microsoft Security Essentials

Ever since I got this laptop, Mar 09, specifically for FFXI, family talked me into the game..I've had McaFee on both this and wife's desktop. Only ever had 1 problem when it did an update and then saw a POL file .dll extension that is saw as a Trojan. POL knew about it, gave me a number to call at McaFee, I ended up talking to Tier II techs who took control, couldn't fix it, so they gave me an emergency patch for the night, with the permanent patch out the next day to all McaFee users. McaFee said they fielded about 3k calls in 5hrs on the problem, so they knew they had a major issue. Other than that, the only issue I have are the auto updates that pop up now and then.
Erevan-Elvaan WAR 1st job, best job.
