It's just you. Gil is easier to get than it's been in several years, and one of the major gil sinks in the game (Dynamis) was partially eliminated in the last major update.

It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to one-shot clusters of abyssea mobs with it. You just need the right atmas.

I never used FFXIAH because that site sucks for anything short of an external AH checker. But thanks for the link anyway.

Considering it just answered your question I would think it doesn't "suck" maybe you can't handle the nature of the forums but I've always found a great deal of good info there when I don't feel like running through the troll storms on BG
