Would that new code be compatible with fat Ps3's that employ backwards compatibility? I wanna say no, but that is just a guess.

I doubt they will release XI on PS3 in order to drop PS2 support, although it is a fix.

They never will, but you may be happy to know that their new MMOs that they announced they are working on will more then likely be released on PS3.

If they used a licensed engine like Unreal or CryEngine the development kit has tools for quickly porting your code and scaling the assets to each platform.

I'm not sure about Unreal but with CryEngine porting from PC to PS3 and Xbox 360 is close to automatic. CryEngine has also been used in MMO's previously with Aion so it's capable of handling it.

Yea, I would just like to see more add on's that will give us PC/360 users a little more fun.. It's terrible how we have to lower our standards on a game due to the fact thats it is on an obsolete system like the PS2..

It depends what you want from the game, some things would require reworking the code, like GUI and Macros and things that would just make the game overall more enjoyable, like inventory limitations etc.

However PS2 presents the HDD space problem, where it's 'petition' isn't large enough and that forces SE to make less graphical additions to the game (New .dats new JA animations etc, notice how efflux and several other newer animations had copied animations before they changed the way PS2 updates).

Personally I've been dealing with the GUI, Menus and Macros for 8 years and don't mind them anymore but I would like PS2 to go simply so we can have new zones, new .dats, and more variety of that kind of thing. Emphasis on new zones.

For some PC users there are no macro problems, considering spell cast and other GUI enhancements that you can do through .dat swaps etc. Not that I personally use them.

I'm in pain over the fact that we're going on more than a year's worth of updated terms missing from the auto translate... that's my only gripe with PS2 limitations at the moment, really. Everything else I can deal with for now. Would be nice if in the future they do away with it and create an enhanced FFXI. I would certainly still pay $12.95/month to play that.

SEs online game dept. is hemorrhaging money right now because of the epic failure that is FFXIV. There is no way they are even thinking about a rebuild or a full pc/360 only expansion until 14 starts producing revenue. Even then it's a 1 in a million chance. I mean think about it? How much is this rebuild gonna cost them? How much more money is it going to make them? None. They are a business and it makes no business sense. If anything they would lose subscribers. It's just not gonna happen so just let it go. Be happy they are even making small tweaks like HQ text and Icons and a 2048x2048 setting for the pc.

It's never going to recover because FFXI players hate it (and even if they "fix" it they'll still hate it) and non FFXI players don't care about it.
