Freshly Picked Vana'diel 30 Digest

To coincide with the December 2016 version update, Producer Akihiko Matsui held another Freshly Picked Vana'diel to go over some of the new content and discuss other topics pertinent to adventuring. The following is a digest of what was discussed.

This is a month filled with holidays, and this will be the final broadcast of 2016, so we filled it with great stuff to show off, including the implementation of the new battle content, Omen.

For those of you who were not able to tune into the broadcast, or for those that just want to check out the content, I’ve compiled another digest. The stream had a lot of explanations while playing a live demo, so be sure to check out the archived video.

New battle content: Omen

We explained about the new battle content, Omen, while showing it off with live gameplay. Director Fujito and myself formed a party, and fought our way to the mid-boss. Be sure to check out the video to see what happens! Additionally, Naoshi Mizuta created a brand-new track for the background music, so enter the content and give a listen.

During the broadcast we showed off one of the new rewards you can earn from Omen—a grip for damage dealers. This item adds to the DEX modifier applied to weapon skills, and it’s a completely brand-new stat. There’s tons of great new rewards, so do your best to defeat the bosses.

We also showed off the +2 version of the reforged warrior artifact equipment. While the original item level 119 artifact items had a lot of the same stats on multiple pieces (enmity etc.), the +2 version offers a lot of variety on each piece, so it’s great to use in conjunction with other equipment. Naturally, the +3 version bumps the power up even further.

Battle Content: Ambuscade

Director Fujito is always challenging this content by himself during the streams, and this time around we let a little hint slip—hit em’ with hand-to-hand! Since the enemy you face is a corse, blunt attacks work exceptionally well. We also showed off the rewards for this month, so check out the video to see.

A bit ago on the forums we received a request to make it so party members can see your recast times when using /recast. We shared the current progress and status of the development team. During the broadcast we received a lot of comments and feedback on Twitter and other places. Thank you very much. We’ll take everything into consideration as we look into this.

→I Dream of Mog Bonanza 2017
Marbles can be purchased from Friday, November 11, 2016 at 12:00 a.m. (PST) to Thursday, December 15 at the same hour. Don’t forget to grab them!
→December 2016 Login Campaign
The end of the year can be quite busy and hectic, so we figured it would be hard for people to log in every day for the campaign. As such, we added a log in bonus for the first three log ins, and we also cut the point cost of everything in half. Please visit the official site for all the details.

→Dig for Something Other Than Coal with the Chocobo Digging Campaign
This campaign lasts until Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 6:59 a.m. PST. This is the first time to hold a chocobo digging skill increase campaign and the hyper chocobo digging campaign, so raise your skill levels and put it to good use!
→Returner Support Campaign (tentative name)
We’ll be holding a campaign from January 1 through January 31 to support adventurers that return to Vana’diel. This is a weekly rotating campaign that will last 4 weeks. Since we received a lot of feedback from everyone, stating that it would be good to have a special bond with trust, we decided to add this. All the details will be posted on the official site in the near future, so be sure to check back. Additionally, if you have a friend who is thinking to come back and play after a while, this is the perfect opportunity to get together with them.

The next Freshly Picked Vana’diel is schedule for either February or March, so we will see you all in 2017!
