cactuar needle what is it for?

Does any one know what the Cactuar Needle is used for? Have no idea what this used for the past 8 years.

it's obviously for inventory -1!

There might be a hidden effect of mitigating some Cactuar needle ability damage if you have some in your inventory!

But that's just me speculating. Someone should go try it out!

I always thought it was a throwing item but now that you mention it... o.O no idea...

It's for selling to NPCs for 190 gil.



But seriously, I wonder why they never gave it any other use...

I was going to make my own thread for the useless Doll Gizmo. Dev Team for the love of Altana make sense of this madness.

Well, speculating from the Doll Gizmo's page:
"Stealing this item from Manipulator slows its attack speed and weakens its TP moves. It has no other known purpose."

Perhaps the Cactuar Needle when stolen reduced 1000 needles down to 999 max damage?
Get a few hundred thieves out there with enough +Steal gear on and maybe you could make cactuars a joke :D

....Okay, but that's just ridiculous.

I'll chalk it up as inventory -1. Would be nice if they throw it in some alchemy recipe(s) or something.

I know you were just joking anyway, but once one person has stolen something from a mob, anyone else who tries to steal from it until it dies (even if it goes unclaimed) simply gets a message that the mob has nothing to steal. :P

It has hidden effect: clothcraft+1.

In FFXIV, it's actually used to craft the thousand needle, the rank 42 weavers main hand tool.

6 Wind Shards
1 Cactuar Needle

Odd thing too is that the cactuar needle is obtainable from a BCNM, and people actually have sold them on the AH. Go figure. :)

pardon the bad joke but if you get the needle will it make you a prick?

Will these ever get a synth recipe before the game ends?

They could turn them into items used to reforge or augment something... Same with the Cardian Cards...
