Dev/Team Please Consider doing this for Prime Weapons

We all know Sortie and Prime Weapons is the last big thing to come to FFXI and will probably will be the last big thing as the Dev team has been downsized. But Being a 40+ year old Player (that started this game before COP) and came back to it a few years ago, i don't have the Time in a day to grind out 1 Million (then eventually 2.5 Mil, then who knows how much Gallimaufry).

I fully understand that the Dev team wants us to play and enjoy the game and play the content they made and not just blow thought all the content and then be done with it. But people now have multiple jobs and would enjoy making multiple of these if it didn't take months to farm enough Gallimaufry to get these done. Yes there is teams out there doing 65k per run, but most people do 20-30k normally maybe even up to 40k, but i know there is solo players that average 10-14k a run and it would take them 6 months of farming every day for those 6 months.

My recommendation Cut the cost of Gallimaufry in Half, (at least but 1/2 is fair), But Double or increase the number of Voracious Psyche needed, as these are capped at 5 per month, it would extend the time needed to get a prime weapon and keep it gated still, but it lowers people's time commitment in farming Gallimaufry 1 hour a day for months on end. We are not 20 year old's any more we have families, Jobs etc we just don't all have that kind of time any more.

Advantages to this it would also allow people to upgrade more empyrean armor to Stage 2/3 and not feel like it sets you back 2-3 farming runs. It also would help with burn out, I know a lot of people burn out doing Odyssey (I've had 2 statics break on me as i got V15 unlocks) I would just hate to see the same happen for Sortie. There is less incentive to do Sortie then Odyssey as with Odyssey you can make decent Gil doing farming runs of points with Sortie there isn't that extra incentive so it feels more like a Chore.

I realize that nothing will come of this as I'm not even sure the Developers read these (or support) but as a Dev my self I see this as a way to make the it less of a grind and help improve the user experience, i know myself would make multiple prime weapons if i could but not if i need to fame 3.5+Million Gallimaufry (I image the last step will me 5-10 mil) I don't even think I'll be able to do one as it would take me 140 farming runs (getting 25k per run) that is over 4 months of farming every day 1hr, 140hrs of farming for a weapon that we don't even know will be good or not that we could use outside of Sortie. I don't know about you, but I don't think i want to sink that much time into a maybe.

I'd rather the requirements for the armor upgrades be reduced instead. Far greater odds of that in my opinion and it benefits a lot more people.

Won't happen, the people who would actually go for them already made relics and mythics and such and they're used to endless grinds.

as someone who has made 3 Empy, 2 mythics, and 3 Relics i am well aware of the grind involved. Prime weapons are a whole another level of grind. I just feel that that Galli numbers are a touch to high. Another way they could offset things is have Starstones, Sapphires and maybe even Essence tradeable to an amount of Galli, something like 5k, 10k, 50k or something that would just cut down on the grind time and make it accessible to more people.

The problem isn't how long they take to make, it's how much effort you have to put in every day and how long it takes every day.

unless you are retired, or a kid, or rich. nobody has the time to do what they are asking for any of it. ya sure it don't take much time to get to 99, or the original story line missions now. but other old stuff does.

like this: "Glavoid Shell" they need to make another way to obtain these, Or increase the amount they drop as 2 is a ridiculous amount for the time required, for a weapon that's out dated. tried to day and ran out of time, 1st attempt never even got all required items to pop boss for them.

Relic: takes WAY to long to unlock and its out dated. same with ALL the other gear. takes to long to get. I will probably just finish all the abyssea crap as fast as I can. and see how the rest of the last of the story missions go. cant seem to finish Rhapsodies. then quit. I love this game BUT I don't have the time to get all this crap to complete the game.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the offline version of Dragon Quest 10?

I agree Clamo people don't have the time any more, but at the same time Glavoid I don't think is so bad you can knock that out on 1-2 weekends if you spend some time at it (and are not on a high pop server) i have done it 2x now, to me that is an acceptable time sync. And Empy weapons are still really good (its why i have 3 and am considering another). But the Galli time sink is way to much imo. I'm not asking for it to go away, just make it reasonable.

I'm surprised SE didn't make it like how they did odyssey. IE those that early adopted odyssey gear paid alot more for the gear. Now, at least on asura the gear is at the minimal prices, 10% of the original cost. They could have done the same thing for the gallimaufry cost. IE the cost of stage 3 is high at first 1m, but decreases as more complete that stage, until it finally bottoms out at 10% of the original cost, 100k, or whatever percent they wish to have it bottom out at.

There is nothing wrong with how long it takes, there is everything wrong with how many times a week they expect people to do it.

They are burning people out and making them quit. MMORPG players are their own worse enemy, they will do something to a fault and then get mad and blame the game and quit. If you allow them to do it 7 times a week, they will do it 7 hours a week even if they don't want to because of "keeping up with the joneses" mindset.

You could take the approach, who cares let them quit. However that's bad for the rest of us cause Square Enix sucks.

I couldn't agree with you more. The whole reason i started this discussion was just try and bring this to the Devs attention.
Like I understand they want people to do and enjoy sortie, but you do not accomplish by locking them into the event 7/days a week for 6 months... that is 100% how you burn out even the die hards. I know For Oddy i was one of those people i wanted to climb and unlock more levels but we were doing 7 farms a week and 3-4+ boss fights and it eventually became mind numbing and we eventually cut down to 5/week then like 3-4, till the static fell apart. I eventually found a new one but we set clear limit on the number of farms per week so as to not burn people out. I do like parts off Oddy but at the same time doing it for month and months 5-7 days a week I also hate it at times...

I just don't want Sortie to become the same, because i actually enjoy Sortie, because you can do it what ever way you want, Kill NMs for chests, farm bosses, Wipe out mass mobs, you can do it any mix and match you want.

They basically don't post here anymore unless the sky is falling.

With there not being a lot of content additions in the future, they need to get as much mileage out of current content as they can, and that means long grinds on it.

They created that secondary entry system so that you could skip a day here and there without losing efficiency. You don't have to do it 7 days a week.

Mobile gaming is estimated to generate $189.50 billion by 2024....Consoles are 20+ billion iirc.......PC=40+ billion, and expected to decline.

They cancelled the mobile game when they got the contract to make ff16.

If you want to make a prime weapon in any reasonable amount of time, yes you do. have you seen the math? you have your solos getting 10-14k, a not killing themselves decently geared group of friends can get 25-30k (this is where my group lands), a decent static can get 30-40k per run, and your hardcores getting 65k+. I'm going to guess most people are going to fall into the 25-30k gap. lets assume low end of the scale and an average of 25k. That is 40 Runes to get enough galli to get to stage 3, or a Month and a Half of 7 days a week worth of runs. Stage 4 is 2.5 mil or 100 runs at 25k per run, or 3 and half months. and if the last stage is what people are speculating (5-10 mil) then its 6-12 months of farming EVERY day at 25k which to me is WAY to grindy. Double those numbers for the poor solos, that is ALOT of time to make a prime weapon that we don't even know if it will be good or not (By the looks of other forums they do look kind of broken OP) but will they all be?

I realize the Devs might never see this, but maybe they will and maybe they will consider adjusting the number slightly to make it more reasonable or maybe the community mods will see it and bring it to the devs attention. This is a 20 year old game, and yes this is the last of their content, and they can make it a drag to to keep people entertained, but i really whole heartedly feel like the Gali numbers are way out of touch and the "grind" to keep people doing Sortie can changed in other ways...

Make +1 Boxes buyable to 250k Gali or something
Make Sapphires and Starstones tradeable to Gobbie for Gali (make it worth 1/5 of what the cost is to buy)
Make it so it takes more mats to upgrade but less Gali

what i am getting at is just make it easier to get gali or more ways to get it and it would be alot less of a grind that won't burn out people.
If these weapons are as strong as they might appear to be. People will want to make multiple of them so let them, they will do sortie over and over and over. If i knew that over the next 3-4 months i could make a T4 Prime i'd prob work to make 1-2 at least over the next year, but if its going to take me 6 months just to make 1 (with help) idk if i want to face that grind.

They literally let him make ff16 cause if it bombs they can just damage control out of ff14 and ff11 to offset all the financial losses over the coming years lol They are getting worse than Blizzard.

If not for ff16 eating up all the oxygen, VR would of been better, the XI mobile game would of been made and XI would have a much higher budget.

Coming back onto topic, as I mentioned in the Prime Weapons thread underneath this one, I agree that it takes far too long just to get 1 mil gal. Empyrean+3 gear is 70k gal each so I'd rather get full empyrean +3 sets than just 1 prime weapon at the moment. I'm UK so it hasn't been easy to even get into sortie 20k parties. I'm on 6k ish runs, which is ok for me to get Empy+3 gear. I also now have a load of sapphires & eikondrites that they are almost at full 99 stacks already. Why can't SE allow us to trade these for enough gal for us to get at least 1 prime weapon stage 3 (octahedrites). There are plenty of prime weapons to get too. We don't even have a "gal + 200%" ring or something, which sucks. They need to do something before we start to drift away.

FYI - Glavoid shells can be received from macrocosmic orb campaign as a drop but is rare as I am after 2 for my blm at the moment, too, to complete my set but at least we can get items to sell from the battles too.

I'd advise against unsubbing since the game is more than Sortie and staying subbed helps keep it going. There's other ways to enjoy FFXI without canceling in a rage quit.

Oh I'm not quitting, i also not upgrading to Stage 4 any time soon (i don't even have the 1 mil yet, which is another problem) Our Group gets about 35k a run which i think is average to low average for a normal static and I'm okay with that. YEs I'd like to get more, but our team is not there yet.

But Making it so the Bosses Enrage or freak out @1 min when you need 5 Mil points for the next stage, is Dumb... Like Making the boss harder is one thing, but doubling the amount of points and making it harder is just punishing, its not fun... Playing a Game should be fun.. I like doing sortie and spending time with my friends, I don't like taking 256 days to farm enough Gali to make a prime because my group can only farm 35k a run, taking a Year to make a new weapon is not fun, yes i don't need a prime (i have all the BIS weapons for my Cor) but they make one so good I want it because its just that good, but idk if i want to burn out trying to make when it takes me almost a year to get it. Plus if i make any more +3 gear it will set me back 2 runs.

A Friend pitched an interesting question one night, Did the Devs even Test some of this stuff? Can they show us a Video of Them Beating Bumba V25? Aminon? to show us its possible without doing sketchy strats/Savage blade spams? Because i would almost bet they couldn't

I just don't think people have worked out the strategies yet. My Linkshells static group started off with very low gali when doing runs and got better and better as time went on - we are now hitting 42k and notice more improvement as time goes on.

This is the way a game is meant to be played, no mercs, no easy way to almost everything.

I can agree, we have been doing the same we started doing a lot of narkuls and getting like 18k now were 35-37k and might bring more bosses in and cut all narkuls.

But Mercs, I do think have their place, (im just not a fan of spam shouting), Like Solo players who want to get into activities, if they can't get help don't have a lot of friends or gear, a merc could get them 3-4 ambu VD kills to get an ambu weapon and a Sakpata V0 Clear and suddenly you have a okay geared War that can toss a Savage blade that doesn't hit like a wet noodle. Or heck an Aeonic clear to get a Great Axe, of Gun, or H2H, GK, all very strong "entry" level weapons to get. I'll even admit i've merc'd a few V0 Oddy clears (I have also done a ton for friends to help them out).

But i still think how Sortie is going, it is only hurting the game. Lower the Gali requirement (some), don't Enrage the Bosses on a stage 4 upgrade, and if they want to time gate it more then put more Voracious Psyche needed onto the upgrades, Cut stage 3 to 1/2 mil and 10 Voracious Psyche stage 4 to 1.5 mil but take 15 Voracious Psyche, and then stage 5 to like 2.5mil and 20 Voracious Psyche. it would take 9 months instead of 6 but the Gali requirement is lowered.

Idk maybe I am stuck on the Gali but I feel like the numbers are stupidly high, and now that the bosses enrage with a stage 4 weapon... it just makes it worse.

I've now reached the point of I'm just gonna get gal to get my Empyrean+3 gear for the jobs I want & not bothering with Prime Weapons. The armour is more important, I think. I'm also now stacking sapphires & eikondrites, which is annoying why we can't trade them for gal yet. Agreed with the stage 4 NM enraging. Why did SE do that in the first place? I don't know.
As for the japanese leaving, that's fine. Let them go. There's plenty of people on here that are not completion-ists. I have plenty of ye olde quests outstanding so that'll keep me going if Resurgence is the last expansion. I don't know if SE snuggle up to just the elite japanese & not listen to the rest of the community. There is a large english out there.

They won't reduce it / add a faster way of obtaining them until they release new lasting content after if at all considering they are Ulitimate Weapons.
