trying to add more evasion gear but the number is fixed at 376 is it bug?
are you adding SKILL+ gear or evasion gear , big difference.
Evasion Gear or Evasion SKILL gear? Sorry your question is straighforward but lacks details, a NIN caps Evasion at 354 and caps 370 with full merits. I don't know what kind of gear you equip, but unless it explicitly states Evasion SKILL + it won't raise your Skill. You might recount the amount of skill you have invested in your merits/gear, make sure your evasion is capped, and double check your math just to be sure. IF your math and everything checks out submit a bug report on this part of the forums, and give details.

whats the difference between evasion and evasion skill arent they the same
nvm i was equipping evasion gear not evasion skill gear thought they were the same lol
They are in the aspect they help evade, but skill+ is much more potent and does not suffer the diminishing effect as much as addon equipment like Acc+ or Evasion+.
You are aware that weapon skill+ (such as sword skill) actually give LESS accuracy then Acc+, right.
Is there any info at all to support this? So many people keep going on about Evasion skill > Evasion, when there's no indication of it to be found anywhere, only some eyeballing reports from some random people.
I've not done any testing on it myself, but also from eyeballing I didn't notice any real difference between the two. I once did some testing in +20 Evasion vs. +20 Evasion skill (Optical Hat and Scorpion Harness vs. Boxer's Mantle, Evasion Torque and Evasion Earring), I didn't get to parse it, but just from doing random events and farming in both, I couldn't make out a difference at all (and I was not at cap yet), which leads me to believe they are either the same or very close. Personally I believe they behave like offensive skills to Accuracy (1:1 pre 200, 1:0.9 post 200).
If there's any testing at all that indicates otherwise, please present it, I've been looking for something about that for quite some time. The only testing I did find actually points towards Evasion:

skill isn't more potent. As far as I've been able to discern, they both affect evading in more or less same way (in that they have the same effect on whether a mob cons low/high evasion or not). That siad, this has been a heavily debated topic for a very long time.
Hmm, well judging by how evasion is a skill but also a stat. I've always been under the impression that boosting the skill, increases the proc rate on your character making an evasive movement, much like when your character parries or guards. While evasion as a stat has been about the mobs accuracy and ability to hit you when the skill doesn't proc. I do see how it can be confusing, as they're named the same thing.
Let me put this way: Stat evasion is your evasiveness (based on enemies accuracy) while Skill evasion is your ability to dodge (randomly procs like parry and guard).
The way I've always suspected it worked is just like Accuracy and Attack. Evasion Skill = ~0.9 Evasion when over 200 (?)
Just like 1 Combat Skill roughly equal to ~0.9 Acc/atk for said skill. I think that's what it is. I might be off by a 0.?
I Can't find any testing, But until I do, I'm going to assume the above Formula is correct :x, I have no reason to doubt otherwise.
It works on the same system Accuracy and Magic Acc does. You would'nt notice much difference comparing 20 evasion skill vs. evasion, however do a comparison with 50+ you might see more of a difference.
One way of checking this for yourself would be subbing a job that has a skill your main does not natively have such as /WAR on RNG or RDM and equipping a Staff. Remove any and all Accuracy/DEX gear and go melee on some mobs that you would hit at reasonable but not high rate. After you get a feel of your accuracy rate, change your subjob to something that you have absolutely no skill in, equip accuracy and try and even out your accuracy to what your skill would have been with the previous sub. Go back to the same mobs as before and melee again and melee till you have a good grasp on your accuracy rate and compare.
Get on THF and ull see your max eva capped + evasion gear go by 400 ish :p
1) There's an accuracy floor. You will always hit at least 20% of all hits.
2) It's well documented how accuracy works. It's quite possible, depending on the mob and skill levels involved, that you're just going from Floored Acc to Floored Acc. Either way it doesn't really matter. It's incredibly easy to calculate your accuracy without having to whack birds with a staff.
3) Skill and Stat add to the same total figure. Skill is not "Immune to diminishing returns". Skill definitely has diminishing returns in the exact same manner as basic stats. [ (Skill <= 200) + ([Skill>200] * .9) + (DEX/X*) + (Net Accuracy+) ] * (Food Bonus) = Total Acc. Total Acc has diminishing returns, and caps at 95%.
* X = 2 for one handers, X = 4/3 for two handers.
You cap accuracy on EM targets when your Acc is greater than or equal to their Eva+40. It doesn't matter how much of that is skill or how much of that is acc+. It's all the same thing.
