Mythics, Relics, Emperian, and Aeoric quest

The requirements for all R/M/E/A weapons is stupidly long for your normal players. Most players that were hard core have already moved on from FFXI and only your die hard players are left. Why has SE not lowered the requirement for some of the items needed for this? So, lets take mythics for example. Instead of 30,000 Alex, make it 10,000 Alex, instead of the other items needing 150k / 100k respected currency cut that by 1/3rd or 1/4th since by now the people that weren't working on them still wont due to the time it takes. Yes, they can be made faster than in the past but for those working full time in real life and having a life outside of this game, these are still massive amounts of time. No one plays for months just to get 1 pieces of gear then spend the next year to upgrade it... By then they are frustrated and irritated and end up quitting the game. Square Enix needs to pull its collective head out of its ass and learn what players want. We want a challenge not a time sink. We want something that makes all players equal so long as they put in the time and effort and not have to have no life outside of the game to be equal to those that decide to do that.

This may just be me but I feel all the R/M/E/A requirements can be lowered and still make them special.

As someone who has found time to complete 3 mythics (DP 119III, Nirvana 119, Burtgang 119III), Aegis, half-way through Ochain, and 3 Aeonics in the past 6 months, I would say the requirements are just fine as they are.

I work fulltime (away from home most of the time) and have a wife & child, but do spend quite a big proportion of my free time in the game to be fair, and that's because I want to put in the effort to get these items. If I wasn't doing that, I'm betting I would be on my PS4Pro or watching TV more, so it's my choice to.

Before the entry requirements for Salvage/Dynamis/Einherjar etc were lowered dramatically I only managed 1 Empy weapon in over 9 years of play. Back then just getting 1 seemed special due to the huge investment to obtain them.

REMA weapons are the real pinnacle trophies for your favourite jobs, and as such IMO should stay representing a big investment required to obtain them.

Oboro and Escha NMs can give really nice alternatives which allow people with less time to play to have decent DPS/Accuracy/MAB etc.

In truth for me, the only reason I've been able to obtain several REMA weapons over a short(ish) time, is because of the campaigns allowing us to bring in huge amounts of gil (voidwatch for me mainly) which translated 30,000 alexandrite into about 2 weeks of evening/weekend Bismarck spamming. When I build up my coffers again I'll be looking into the next shiny thing I suppose.

Making a relic is ridiculously easy, upgrading it, tedious, but not too difficult.

The Alexandrite stage is the easiest stage to a Mythics.

Empyrean really isn't so bad now thanks to Ambuscade.

Aeonic Weapons are a joke easy.

The longest stage on any of these is the 10,000 Pluton/Boulder/Beitetsu and even that's not too bad.

Only changes I think should come is:

RUN/GEO needing 6 months before they can start is ridiculous add a KI that reduces Imprimatur restock time, Also 10,000 for RUN/GEO's weapon with no afterglow is ridiculous, should be halved.

On my server, Mythics and Empyreans are 250m and Ergons 260m. Plus some negligible amount to 119 and somewhere between 70m and 120m for afterglow. In 2017 FFXI, you the casual can do it. Sure it takes time, but focused effort will get you there if you want it. Oh and Relic weapons are obviously comparatively dirt cheap.

Aeonics are either incredibly easy or impossible to make. Not sure why OP included them at all.

It's kinda funny how that works out isn't it? The mobs are either completely impossible. Or farm status. Never has been very much middle ground.

The other 3 are just time sinks, there's actually nothing stopping anyone from building any RME other than free time and boredom, money is INCREDIBLY easy to make... until tomorrow when they nerf sparks!

Okay I found it... "certain items" reduced when sold to NPC.

Anybody got a list? Obviously the Acheron Shield, but what about others?

To be honest, though, I think it's a healthy move for the game, prices on some stuff are just getting ridiculous because people don't care about gil anymore...

gil still needs a effort, even spending 1-4hrs in cp party to get records is effort, you can farm certain mobs or do battle events or LS events. thing is, old farm spots have become easier with 119 gear and faster tp build along with trusts for soloing, however even that requires effort

Actually after reading the update notes, I still don't get what they "nerfed" about Sparks?

There's been no mention at all of Sparks or the items bought with such, and the only items reduced were the Simulcrum items (which AFAIK you couldn't even buy with Sparks?).

It was just assumed because SE likes to nerf things like that.

I honestly don't get what else they expect people to do with Sparks, then, if not to sell weapons/armor to vendors to get gil.

Once you get your skills capped, you don't need skill books.
Once you get your AF upgraded, you don't need Rem's Tales (and they are EX, so no selling them to players).

That just leaves a slew of wimpy stuff that once you're Lv119, you no longer need or already have, and even Lv99 equipment does not cost that much Sparks in the first place. That just leaves highly over-priced consumable ammo (do Rangers even exist anymore? I've not seen one since I returned in November).

If they ever did nerf Sparks, they need to give us more stuff we can buy with Sparks to keep them useful.

It'd be nice if they added select jewelry so that newbies and people leveling new jobs/mules don't have to run around with no rings/earrings/back/belt clear to Lv99. But then again, that won't solve the problem for long, so....

How about some select foods and other consumables?

Use polymerization card on the curio moogle and sparks npc? hmm

If I remember correctly originally they changed the NPC price of the items so they worked out at 10x the price it cost you in sparks so was actually made a way to make gil, it's just historically when this happens they let it go for a while then suddenly decide it's not what they intended and stop it.

It's why people, myself included, assumed it was sparks items they were nerfing when we say the update notes.

Well even if they nerfed some Sparks items, they would also have to nerf other items that can be made from those (mostly Alchemy), otherwise you'd have people churning out Alchemy-made weapons for gil instead, lol.

People will always find some preferred easy gil method, and you can't nerf them all or you make it impossible for newbies to make money.

Selling Crystals on the AH only works for so long before you run into a dry spot or you aren't making enough money to cover what you need. That's where Sparks comes in. And even then, given that Beastmen own more than 50% of the map on my server rather often, newbies probably don't even get that many crystals anyways. The Sparks are kinda necessary because it's the only steady, reliable income a newbie has. That's assuming they even know about this little trick; it's not exactly advertised in-game or anything.

I dunno, maybe they do actually intend on a player to use sparks? Even if they nerf it down to 5 gil per spark, that's still 500k out of 99999 sparks. And I would assume that nerfing the huge list of items that can be bought with sparks would have game-wide ramifications, to where it'd seep into other areas that have nothing to do with sparks (such as the entire crafting thing, making it way too expensive to level crafts since you no longer get money back out of vendoring your crafted items) etc.

Or, if they made items more expensive to buy with Sparks, then the newbies get screwed over.

I kinda doubt they'd nerf sparks, or they'd just nerf certain items that just seem too overpowered. Like, say, the Acheron Shield. Is there a reason why it costs 2700 sparks and vendors for 28000+ gil, when the Lv80 shield above it only costs 800 sparks and probably vendors for ~8k?

That doesn't even make sense.

If they nerfed sparks, things like these is what I would expect to see nerfed, rather than the entire sparks system. Chances are, even if the Acheron Shield were nerfed, there'd probably be something else that's reasonably do-able to do instead. It'd just take longer to do, as you'd need to buy more of them.

I don't know why this game hasn't crushed under the weight of inflation yet. Unless people are farming the entirety of the items they need, people are generating hundreds of millions of gil via RoE to create items that have no value because they are non-transferable.

I'd think that is the case. Sure I can farm sparks and get millions of gil, but with the AH almost dead (unlock crafting limits already) most of my shopping is done through NPCs (Curios and others) so that same gil is taken out of the economy just as fast as we make it. Also, farming sparks still takes time, so compared to other farming methods it isn't as broken as people may think. Only real difference is it's just more convenient than other methods.


PS > Almost forgot, I can confirm that at least in my case I do farm most of what I need and that I cannot buy from NPCs. Again, with the AH almost completely dead except for some high level crafted stuff and other misc drops and materials there really isn't much trading going on between me and other players.

Which is why I really want to be able to cap all crafts on my main character, otherwise I simply have no way of obtaining many items I should just be able to craft on my own if I spend the time required to level crafts and obtain guild items.

I'd have to say that most of the gil that is generated is indeed taken out of the economy due to consumption.

There is some inflation, but only on certain things (cursed armor...).

There are some items I've bought/sold, but their prices were usually reasonable (I'm just a cheapskate so I rarely buy), but there are some ridiculous things still in the AH... like... Squamous Hides for 600k. *rolls eyes* Really? It's not like they're hard to get or anything.

And then you got people doing absurdly stupid stuff like trying to sell Raaz Leather for 100k a stack when the Raaz Hides go for 20k per stack.

Here's a clue for those types of people: If anybody needs a Raaz Leather for anything, they are probably a leathercrafter who is easily high enough to turn Hides into Leather, and with the Tanning Vats it really doesn't take long to do, and it certainly doesn't warrant 5x the price.

They sell, but rather slowly but yet there's several stacks of them up. I remember checking them a couple weeks ago, saw 8-10 stacks of them up, but only 2 sales in the past week. That's usually a sign that they're asking for too much.

Oh, and Windbuffet +1 Belts.... lol.

Exactly two have sold the entire month of February and there are (last I checked) 14 of them up, seemingly at the old price of 5m. Tried going up to 3.1m and saw it wouldn't sell and I was like "nope, I'll wait a bit longer, someone with a bit more intelligence will stick one up for cheaper".

People are trying to get ridiculously high prices out of their stuff, but it just isn't selling very good.

Anecdotes like this make me wonder why more people don't just suck it up and transfer servers. The economy's much more dynamic there as the comparison of Windbuffet Belt +1 sales between Sylph and Asura demonstrate.

Because square doesn't deserve to get paid for their ineptitude.

It should -not- cost money to change to a server with an actual population, and the excuses they make for server mergers are completely ridiculous.

2 dead servers put together won't equal half of asura, there is zero excuse for not merging them.

I completely agree, but the FFXI dev team lives by the "better late than never" saying, the recent GEO "fix" being a classic example. It was move or quit playing for me. I decided to move... and quit playing last month. :D

All I'm going to say, and bring it back up from a dead thread back from 2013.....Change the spawn timers for the NMs for the Empy weapon trials. It's nice that the first few trials are a breeze, but honestly after waiting 5 hours for a mob to pop is really starting to get old and make me not want to gear other jobs and get those weapons. Honestly getting to the 1500 Heavy Metal Plates is going to be murder enough on my gil and ability to think straight, the least you can do is make getting to that point easier.

Just the NMs before the Void Walker NMs, that's all I'm asking.
