I shouldnt constantly have to hope my npcs dont blow up one of the two mobs in regular ambuscade when it gets low, nor should I have to constantly take care to not weapon skill when I cant turn from mortal ray in something thats supposed to be "easy" and "very easy"
Its just as frustrating to play the easier difficulties as it would be the harder ones, and for less reward

BS mechanics are one thing for battles you don't need to literally spam 150+ times and that you're not supposed to be able to solo. Go ahead have BS mechanics in ultimate endgame, but keep them out of ambuscade. -

I think they put in a determent for magic bursting in this ambuscade, like one of the mobs gets crazy magic defense and magic evasion when it berserks, but I think someone said they got around it by putting a helix on before that.
Anyway after doing the fight the other day it's actually not that hard. The biggest hiccup being mortal ray. So if you are soloing and are using a tank trust who can't turn, what you should do is bring some sort of stun to stun mortal ray. It's definitely annoying considering how many times you have to do it to get all the armor, not that the armor is worth getting. My best solution is to get a player to team up with you to tank and make them do the annoying part of turning.
This fight does bring up some things that could use some quality of life adjustments. Cursna is too weak, and it would be helpful if we could see mob's tp like we can see out party members' tp. -

If you separate the mobs the Taurus doesn't use any tp moves so yeah... also the healing npcs are pretty pro at removing doom anyways

I don't have a problem at all with this months ambuscade. I liked it much better then last months. This one actually created a little experimentation with the 2 mobs. After you get it down you feel like you achieved something. Teaching others is fun too! :)

There are many ways to avoid Mortal Ray anyways, you can hold TP until it uses a monster skill first or you can adapt to the weaponskill+turn tactic as also was previously mentioned.
We're halfway through the month now though and I doubt SquareEnix wants to waste time/resources because of a player refusing all of the above tactics/precautions when playing solo and not grouping with others.
In any case though, hope that you have better luck with the fight and find a method that works for you. -

Month one was awesome, the event dropped great gear and was great for people of all ability levels, then they threw this garbage at us.
I obviously don't expect them to change anything this month but I think it's valuable to express how disappointed many players are by the change this month from last month so that next month is better.
Ambuscade was a great event when it was focussed on allowing players of all skill levels to do the work to get a great set of armor.
Keep the gimmicky nonsense for "Intense" ambuscade - leave "regular" ambuscade accessible for soloers and duoers.
It's really a shame because with the free week a lot of people *could* have gotten a great 119 starter set so they could do other events with folks - it would have been a great incentive for people to stick around. It's really a shame that they went this route. -

I find it pretty easy to solo, but really... why solo? Maybe if you are on too early for the rest of your server (hard to believe that your entire server shares a similar time zone), then just wait until peak time. They listened to our suggestions about our entry woes and did a stellar job of fixing it from my experience. Part of that fix is encouraging teamwork. You are playing an online social game, not a solo console game. If you just have a few minutes here and there to play, then most events in this game aren't for you.

If the gear isn't all that good, then why are you bothering? I assume you are not referring to the capes, because they are great. You are right that it is your right to solo if you want. On the same token, it is their right to create an event on their game that is geared towards the majority of the people that play. I am sorry that you don't enjoy teaming up or can't find the time to do it. Don't try to discourage them from making the game fun for those of us that do. I like to challenge myself as well..... to play cohesively with a group of other players, friend or stranger. The content is still solo friendly, but its just a little more challenging. Not a problem since you like to be challenged, right?

So I've changed my tune on this month's Ambuscade. Obviously the Quadav fight is all sorts of stupid and I'm ignoring that. But for the Demon/Taur fight, it's really not so bad. We had initially tried separating the mobs, but that just led to the Taur spamming knockback/bind regular attacks while losing hate all the time. Seriously not fun.
Once we learned to group them together, the fight got a lot easier. Since killing one NM significantly powers up the second NM, the key is to minimize the time between kills. We typically take the Taur below 10% before switching to the Demon. Once they are both at low HP, I like to kill the Demon last because I think it's safer but you can kill them in any order at that point. The tank either needs to be good at avoiding Mortal Ray or you need a WHM with a good Cursna set. Holy Water helps too. But the NM really does get spammy with it so it's best if the tank can focus on turning.
So my only real issue is that I imagine that it's difficult to do this solo. Well, that and SE really has to make sure that if you have to kill 10 XP-yielding mobs to get a new entry KI, there need to be enough of these mobs with a quick respawn rate. One thing that would be helpful would be if Abyssea mobs counted (they count for WS trials, why not this?). I'd also like to see 1-2 Abdhaljs Seals added to the total Hallmark rewards.
I notice on my server that there are a lot more pickup groups happening. People are flagging up in Mhaura, grouping up, and making progress. So that's a good thing. -

Reason why abyssea mobs don't count is because it's for xp mobs while ws trials just want things to die with ws. They don't want to lift the xp restriction probably to stop you from killing lvl 10 stuff

Regular was a little bit of a challenge to figure out and do vs the mind numblingly easiness that was last months but wasn't too bad unless you thought you could still solo VD lol.
Intense on the other hand tripled down with a ton hard hitting moves and such that would easily kill a hard nm party forget something you are farming ad nauseam and had a bunch of gimmicks that didn't really get nailed down till most people that cared already had all their points for month already. Which would be fine if they were merely gimmicks that made it easier/harder but instead actually made the mobs unkillable. Oh and was glitched for like half the month (might still be?) -
