requirements for rhapsodies?

I quit ffxi about a year ago since by that time I was pretty bored with it. But came back to do rhapsodies to see how they are wrapping it up.

I progress fine until I got to the part where I had to kill3 night spawns in the new zone. I am on pup, my h2h is maxed out, I am using acc food. I have i117 gear mixed with other things like Thaumas Coat and Epona's Ring and I can barely hit them. Miss Miss Miss. And I am of course using trusts.

I want to finish rhapsodies but I cannot find help that doesn't require payment. You would think they would make it a little more accessible to those who are returning, cause frankly I want to see how the game ENDS without having to do weeks of pointless grinding.

What exactly am I do to here? Am I missing something?

First off, ditch the Thaumas coat. On most content these days that thing is both suicide as well as a crutch.
As you yourself are already saying, you can't hit the broad side of a barn with it, and even exp/CP mobs will flatten you in 2/3 hits if they catch you wearing it.

The Naraka you are trying to fight are level 125, by the gear you are describing you are probably barely scraping iLevel 115.
Strive for iLevel 117 or higher gear in all your slots if you want to have a chance at soloing these, otherwise ask for help.
Upping you own iLevel also increases the level of your trusts by the way.

Ok, I will rep the coat with an i117 and see what that can do for me.

Aren't trusts' levels based solely on the item level of your mainhand weapon?

gaining some job points will also help. there are some permanent accuracy bonuses in there. Also the accuracy vorseals.

I'll just go with that then. I was i117 with trusts on summoner one time and they seemed as if they were weaker than they were on PUP that was all 119, fighting the same stuff. But I was just eyeballing it. So I'll have to concede that point. :p

Chapter 1 of Rhapsodies is aimed at level 1-70. Chapter 2 is aimed at level 99. Chapter 3 is aimed at level 117-119. If you aren't wearing all iLevel equipment, you are going to have trouble with the missions. Reisenjima is an endgame zone. The final boss of the story is going to be the most challenging. You don't have to grind all that much, as you can get decent equipment from Alluvion Skirmish, which is soloable.

You should be aiming for at least 1100 base acc to be useful for anything anyhow. Suck it up and pay for carries to get the gear you're required to have for the content you're doing to get it.

A friend and I completed Rhapsody, both in 117 sparks gear and nowhere near 1100 acc. So just see if you can find someone that's willing to help out and you should be good.

My own personal experience sais gear, strange enough.
I noticed when doing the heal Unity members gig on dancer where swapping into my Waltz set (which had a higher iLevel than my fodder TP/Idle set) made the trusts' HP go up slightly adding to my.
And I definitely wasn't swapping weapons.


I know it's an incredibly small sampe size, but for me a pretty clear one.

I have never paid for a carry in all my years playing mmos and I will not start now. I will see what I can do.

Compared to people with actual gear, you'll be useless. Even should you get ilvl 119 reforged AF/relic/empyrean solo, that will be insufficient. They'll be carrying you whether you like it or not, and why should they do that for free?

That's dependent on his job and his over all skill. Seeing as he's a SMN, he can most definitely get by with the ilvl119 reforges in lots of the things leading up to Reisenjima, even more so if he's get lucky enough to get the Seraphicaller. While his DMG won't be Game Breaking, He can do some decent things with a good set-up. Apogee with Garland of Bliss + Predator Claws/Chaotic Strike -> Light Followed by Wind Blade or Thunderstorm is a great combo. Likewise, Shattersoul/Retribution + Rush/Spinning Dive for Darkness, ending with Grand Fall/Heavenly Strike. The Pet Acc. Food - Shirimochi and ACC/ATT Food - Akamochi will also help. There are lots of things that can be done without the need to buy a win. And while the view that they're 'carrying you' anyway is completely subjective. With capped Skills a 5m+ Hastega II, Damage Mitigation, TP Bonus, Cure Potency+, Reraise/Raise II, etc... The list goes on. He can bring a few good things to the party. Will it be the fastest, maybe not, but will he be a burden, no...

You're being kind of toxic here, there's no reason to be rude to this guy.
1)Why should anyone do anything for free? because mercing has never been that prevalent in this game, and people often do things to help out and be nice?
2)reforged 119 gear is plenty sufficient for most things. Not being the best on the server != insufficient. Many AF/relic/emp gears are useful. How did the first people get the NMs with "actual gear" down, before all the "actual gear" had been obtained by anyone? Will you be amazing with it? No. Can you clear content? Absolutely yes.
