Coalition Imprimatures... /doze

I think this has been hit on before many times, but I'd like to bring it back to the attention of the Development Team.

Coalition Imprimatures take WAY TOO LONG to replenish. Every SIX hours is too much of a wait, especially when you have to spend ~20 to increase your standing in any coalition by one rank. The wait is terrible and doubly so when you're trying to reach "Legend" rank at 6/6 coalitions to even start the Ergon Weapon quest.

I think it's more than fair to ask the time to replenish imprimatures to be GREATLY reduced (at least by 50%) or to need less than 20 to increase your standing (15 is slightly more reasonable).

I'm not sure why this wasn't one of the boons granted by any of the new Rhapsodie KI, but it seems like a gargantuan oversight. When the "Rhapsodie in Azure" does ALL of this:

Dynamis
-Removal of the lockout on reentering Dynamis.

Assault
-Reduction of the amount of time between issuance of imperial army I.D. tags to ten minutes (Earth time).

Salvage
-Reduction in the time limits between purchasing remnants permits to one hour (Earth time).

Einherjar
-Reduction in the cost of purchasing smouldering lamps to 1,000 gil.
-Reduction of the lockout on participating to one hour (Earth time).

I expect the new (and final) Rhapsodies to address something like imprimatures... especially when "Rhapsodie in Azure" benefits people wanting to make Relics or Mythics so much.

Please, please, please do something about this for the December version update. I'd like to START my Ergon Weapon quest before the servers shut down 6 months from now. It almost takes an entire month to jump from "Petitioner" to "Legend" and there are 6 coalitions. In what world is it fair to force players (who want to try to complete an Ergon Weapon) to wait ~6 months before they can even begin the quest?

Ways to fix this:

1) Substantially reduce the time it takes for imprimatures to replenish. [OR]

2) Reduce the amount of imprimatures needed to increase your rank. [OR]

3) Change the system to make all the imprimatures unique to any particular coalition... as in each coalition has it's OWN pool of imprimatures.

Sorry for the rant but this is just ludicrous.

Erm.. While I do agree on the imprimature thingy, I dk hope that you are aware that the servers will not be going offline in 6 months.

While console support ends in march, you will be able to play the pc version for as long as SE keeps the servers up.
Which will likely be another couple of years, at least.

I hope very much so that the game is still alive in 6 months. However, that doesn't change the fact that anybody who wants to start work on an Ergon Weapon has to wait this long... it's beyond ridiculous.

Work on getting the Adoulin quests done, not only do you get some nice rewards from the quest lines, you eventually get bronze, silver and gold shovel cordon KIs which each reduce imprimatur recharge time by 30mins, so you eventually get recharge time down from 6hrs to 4hrs 30mins

I'm aware of these quests and 4 hours and 30 minutes is still WAY too long... when all of these other activities have a ten minute or one hour wait to replenish or re-enter...

I sympathize, but surely you'll still be working on the H-P Bayld step regardless?

I do agree recharge should be reduced or rank-ups should be easier.

Oh, of course. A minor annoyance is the fact that I have 600 Skirmish stones clogging up space in my safe, as well. No, you can't store 600 Skirmish stones with the NPC. Yes, I tried. Another small nuisance is the dozens upon dozens of stacks of H-P Bayld clogging up space in my safe, as well. This whole thing is the antithesis of fun.

I would attempt an Ergon weapon if the time required to get Legandary Rank in all Coalitions took 60 days. (Similar to the 52 days it used to take to trade assault books during the Mythic Quest.

In fact, I would feel better about spending 4, 5 or 6 months farming H-P Bayld, if I knew that in the long run, the largest time sync was farming items and not an arbitrary timer like Imprimateur refresh time.

I'm confused, what do you mean you can't store 600 stones? You can store stones, are you saying there's a limit to the amount he will hold?

The NPC at Inventor's Guild only holds 99 of each type of stone is what he meant.

Well I'm sorry to hear that. It probably doesn't make a difference to you now, but I stored the few NQ stones I had on the NPC while hoarding Ghastly Stones +2 to trade in for Obsidian Shards to buy NQ stones. You could also easily get enough shards just from the Green Pells we've been getting.

When I worked on H-P Bayld and Alex there was no way I could function if I didn't have a mule to store them. Incidentally, all the Gobbiebag and Mog Safe expansion items are on sale from in your Mog Garden right now.

Here's hoping SE throws you a bone.

I understand that you're kidding, but I fear that the Community Reps or the Dev Team might read that and actually think that's the case. This would, in no way, make Ergon Weapons suddenly as common as grass in the FFXI community; There's still no way to efficiently farm either Bayld or H-P Bayld. Maybe if gaining EXP in SoA areas while under the effect of Ionis gave Bayld... but then we'd be having a different discussion.

The issue here isn't about Bayld or H-P Bayld. It's about the RIDICULOUS amount of time it takes to even start this quest. Everyone commenting is pretty much in agreement that it's too long of a wait time. One could feasibly build Relics and Mythics to ilvl119 before you could even begin the quest to start work on a Ergon. For people that have recently returned to the game, 6 months is too long to wait. The solutions are really simple. I'm not understanding why there is nothing being done about it.

Since the concern seems to be people obtaining too much Bayld this way, maybe SE should consider adjusting the difficulty of ranking up within a Coalition instead.

I'm having trouble understanding this, earlier this year the dev team decided to make the other legendary weapons (Mythic) more accessible by (for one) drastically shortening the recharge time of Assault Tags.
This shortened the time it takes to get the prerequisite done (Obtaining Captain Rank) from 51 real life days to less than 12 hours. (Give or take a lost Assault mission you may have to redo.)
We fully understand that because these Ergon weapons, which are basically in the same league as Mythic weapons, are still quite newish and that they should have some harsher prerequisites.
But as it stands (also counting the quests shortening the current recharge time) it takes about 160 real life days just to even complete the first step. Which by itself is more than three times as long as the time it originally took to complete the Mythic weapon's prerequisite.
That is a bit unfair, no? Don't get me wrong, it definitely doesn't need to be as easy as the prereq for Mythic weapons has become but close to half a year just to get step 1 done...

I thought you guys over there were so fond of the word "Balance".

In all reality, Mythics needed the change FAR MORE than Ergons did/do. While it would be nice, The only change Mythics had was the 50k alexandrite > 30k alexandrite change in its initial form. It will be change eventually, but to cite "balance", you have to take into consideration Ergons are indeed still new, mythics are 2007 era. Think about which one needed the changes more for "balance."

Are you positing that we need to wait 5 years for them to decided that Ergon weapons are no longer "new" and that we were all justified in our assessment of how ridiculous the time period is to start the Ergon weapon quest so that they can then implement fixes? How about we just accept the fact that it IS ridiculous and that they should do something about it NOW rather than 5 years from now.

I would like to have an Idris before I die of old age or the servers shut down, whichever happens first. People that are returning to the game after a hiatus are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to starting this quest specifically because it takes 6 months to even truly begin.

Those are your words, not mine. Mythics needed adjustments even when they first came out..and we got nothing. Then we finally got the much needed changes. The issue with Ergons is they came extremely late in XI's life span but are still ultimate weapons. Don't expect the "ridiculousness" to change, especially with Aeonic weapons coming out. It is a time commitment, but it's not going to heavily change this soon while it's still a very worthwhile set to get. Mythics were extremely situational to the point it's nice to have but your Relic and later Empyrean was a better option. Mythics NEEDED the changes in ALL aspects. Ergons people just want them now in comparison.

That's why I said it would be nice if it could be gotten faster, but they're still very much the "mythic" for RUN and GEO and from what we can speculate so far, aeonic weapons may not be that great in comparison but who knows. My point is more than in reality, they don't need the adjustments as badly as mythics did and they're already probably working on something given the new set coming out.

Okay, I feel like we're sort of drifting off-topic.

This is not a compare/contrast thread about the difficulties of obtaining a Mythic circa 2007 versus obtaining a Ergon now. This is not a thread complaining about the complete and utter lack of efficient methods to farm Bayld/H-P Bayld consistently.

This thread is strictly about Ergon weapons. The consensus is that it takes WAY TOO LONG to even begin the quest because of the way the imprimature system is set up at the coalitions. The issue, why it's completely ridiculous, and completely viable solutions are all on the first page.

We all know a 6 month waiting period is just ludicrous at this point in the life of FFXI. There is no single thing in this game that should take 6 months to achieve, let alone start. There is no reason to sit around quietly and hope that the Dev Team reaches the conclusion a year from now that, well, maybe 6 months is completely unreasonable and, well, maybe we were right to be a little perturbed about it.

Additionally, it seems like a tremendous oversight that none of the new RoV "Rhapsody" KI didn't address any issue at all regarding Ergon weapon building when the previous "Rhapsody" KI completely changed how quickly you can build a Relic or Mythic.

I 100% agree. I figured the final RoV KI would either cut impramature time in half, or make HP bayld cheaper to obtain. Or possibly both. It seemed like a logical direction to go considering all the first RoV did for the obtaining of Relics and Mythics. RUN and GEO are already shafted in terms of obtaining ultimate weapons. They each have one single weapon that are incredibly obnoxious to obtain, whereas other jobs have access to multiple that are easier to obtain, and take less time. Now granted, Idris and Epeo are both amazing weapons, whereas some R/E/M's are quite laughable. Still, this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

I made a Idris and the wait was long for the imprimatures. I was glad to have started on ranking up my coalitions before I decided to make one but it still took awhile to get it done to Legend on all. I had Legend in like 2 of them when I decided to start on my Idris. I wish you could buy the stones from the npc at Inventor's in bigger quantity like in stacks. Buying them one at a time took awhile.

Gotta agree with OP, feels like all other weapons got easier but GEO/RUN got left behind.


Yes, Ergon weapons may not be "old" as relics or mystics, but when one starts doing the quest itself, it's not like he cares how old many years ago the questline was introduced. Easing how fast you can rank into coalition seems like a decent idea.

My earlier joke aside, as someone with no interest in either of the Ergon jobs I strongly support either the easing of Coalition ranking or the removal of pan-Legend status as an Ergon prerequisite so that I can have more people to sell HP Bayld to.

Idris is way too strong, but the current situation benefits no one.

I would say you are correct IF they had not gotten a 119 upgrade.. but they did .. so they are relevant now and Just as "new" as ergons..AND they are getting another update shortly as well.
As previously stated, every other "End game weapon" has had the requirements lowered...But Geo and Run have NO relic.. NO mythic... NO empy... all they get is ergon and if you want a end game weapon for these jobs you have NO choice but to wait 6 months to finish the FIRST stage!!! not to mention if you buy HP bayld at even the reduced Price of 35k each ish, the price would still be well over what it would take to buy a relic or a mythic. Also the dev team has stated that there will be no more New area's.. So players that want to use the new weapon's on "currently relevant content" wont get a chance.. -.- so we can use it on new unity.... great.. just what you need a geo for /sigh.... Even a 10 day event where you could get them at a greatly reduced time equilivant to assults.. cause thats what it is ... would be great.. and Im sure the Dev team is smart enough to see this and wants to see players enjoying FFXI even after "the end" of the story line.
SO im beggin the dev's please give us an event for this!

Since this a timed event and ends on Nov 30th, Can we look forward to a nice christmas present from the Dev's of a similar event that allows some kind of Ki to be used instead of an imprimature? Or something equally delicious That allows us to progress to legend in a reasonably amount of time ?

Everyone seems to want an idris geo to do stuff with... yet when it comes to helping them out .. be it supporting an idea in a thread.. or Selling HP bayld ect nobody wants to put in any effort. ( I had one guy in my ls say i have some Hp bayld for you.. so i stoped doing WKR to get them..... i missed out on about 8 FREE! HP bayld.. and he then told me i owed him money...for 2...) All im asking is for an event that would help out a lot of people, make the game more enjoyable and improve the quality of game play. All which the dev's are looking for suggestions. Hopeful they will take mine seriously. So Try to either support the thread or Not say anything at all. Being negitive helps no one.

I hope you realize that I was being facetious. Also know that I'm the one who started the thread and that I'm the biggest proponent of rectifying this problem.

However, I'm interested in getting a more permanent solution instead of relying on wild and wacky 10-day campaigns that should be permanent fixtures.
