New Expansion Please

Now that we got level 95 comin a few years to months left on Final Fantasy XI if we get lucky and they extend the contract or w/e is it possible we can see maybe another story added to the franchise that we can buy from a store and not download buy addons are great but even with abyssea added theres nothin else left really i would love to see a new area to explore with stronger mobs and difficult missions to prepare for like CoP and Toah i enjoyed the rush of waitin for new server content to open up as every gather to explore the new area unlock a new job save the world again would be nice to see maybe one final expasion or two

SE has said they are laying out a road map for us to see in the near future. I imagine that will have information regarding something like more add-ons or expansions. Also be ready for everything to be direct download from now on it just makes sense. Heck the WoTG disc almost had nothing on it.

The main thing I'd like to see in a new add-on or expansion is a continent or at least unexplored areas. I would pay pretty much anything to see an expansion/add-on to CoP that was the reclaiming Tavnazia. That would easily be the best thing ever, imo. The introduction cinematic shows us adventurers marching on it to reclaim it. I WANT SEE THAT IN GAME SO BAD!!! Also it would be the best time to add Meteor/Comet to Blm, lol.

Just curious though with adding an expansion of new areas. I've heard a rumor there's a limit to the number of unique areas hard coded into the game. Is there any truth to this?

I am sure EVERYONE that is till active in thi game wants this. I love the PS2, but I can see that it is now holding this back back in so many ways. If they add anything new, it will just be an expansion or addon scenario where they will re-use the already existing zones.

After reading the roadmap to 2012 there is no mention or hint whatsoever of a new expansion.
I think once i finish WotG story line i am done for good.

I don't think we're going to be seeing a new expansion for quite some time. At the earliest, I'd say sometime in the 2nd Quarter of next year.

There was a picture at a convention quite a few years ago of several different landmasses we've yet to see. It included everything that's ever been mentioned in the game's lore, and I would be surprised if they decided not to release these areas in future expansions once they finish up tweaking the new level caps and the content to keep players interested in the game as it stands now.

As apposed to a "solid" expansion, they're adding content. Think of the new VNM battles as what you're looking for.

We want story.....the game seems to be heading just in a sad sad death direction IMO.
Like I said. if there is no new story, new (totally new areas) announced soon, as soon as I am done with WoTG i am done!

We do really need a new REAL expansion, not the crap we have been getting, the first three add-ons were total trash in terms of story I didn't like a single one of them and I'm going to be honest... I loved CoP. I completed it as it was still the main expansion and was in sea well before limbus was even announced.

I loved the story of CoP, the rest were good too but CoP stood out above all the others. Most people that "hate" CoP couldn't get it done until they nerfed it so they hate it, but even some people that has to wait until it was uncapped loved CoP's storyline.

We need large new continents and areas to explore. I think SE should just port it to the PS3... I think even the JPs would gladly welcome it. PC users always have to upgrade their machines. So why shouldn't the PS2 users... or at least launch a LARGER PS2 hard drive. SE really hasn't thought of any of this I don't think.

The reason the majority of us OLDER players are here are to see the new areas, content and see new storylines, not to farm abyssea all day and night.

PS2 HDD has custom firmware. PS2 software is programmed not to detect the hard drive unless it has that firmware, and only Sony has access to put that on the drives, and only Sony can release hardware like that. Without that firmware they were standard IDE Maxtor or IBM drives.

Also note that IDE hard drives aren't made much anymore, and the PS2 doesn't support SATA.

Production of a new drive wouldn't be worth the return either, since compatible models have been out of production since 2004 (7 years ago), and most PS2s get DRE problems after that long.

Aren't those "test servers" coming up some sort of hint at a possible expansion? \(o_O)/
