FFXI is unplayable - Error 3001

Let me preface this by saying that I love the game, and I appreciate any effort you guys put towards this issue.

1. Nothing is wrong with my internet. The game has been broken somehow on your end, I believe. It's causing instability in PlayOnline, as well; It takes 4-5 tries to even get past POL to experience the error, even when I try to log in from work with a completely different ISP.

2. The "internet explorer option" you guys posted isn't the problem... I don't even have internet explorer installed.

3. This started happening after the April update, as many people have stated.

4. The only way to fix a character in this "bugged state" is to give your account information out so other people can log on your character and move you.

5. Please let us know if you have programmers looking into the reports, so we'll know there's some potential light at the end of this dark tunnel. :(

A lot of people is having the exact same problems as you describe.
Since these problem happen since April 9 update and It's been about 8 days now and the issue is not resolve. :/

Hi, so, I did some additional testing around this issue.

It seemed to happen almost EVERY time I tried to visit Northern San d'Oria..

Actually, N.Sandy may just be 1 of many locations... I'm having to zone every place possible and write down what areas I cant visit lol

yeah, I'm not saying N. Sandy is the only place... just that it happened to me every time I tried to go there. You should post your list :)

Currently, we are receiving contacts from users in certain environments who have become unable to log in to services connected to their Square Enix Account.

Investigation has revealed that the issue stems from application of the latest Windows Update, which turns off the “Use SSL 3.0” setting under Internet Options in Internet Explorer 11.

We ask that users who are experiencing this issue take the following steps to change their Internet Explorer 11 settings.

[Steps]
1. Open Internet Explorer 11
2. Open Internet Options
3. Select the “Advanced” tab
4. Check the boxes next to the following and click “Apply”:
- Use TLS 1.0
- Use TLS 1.1
- Use TLS 1.2

[Affected Services]
- FINAL FANTASY XI Forums
- Square Enix Account Management System

I know that the IE11 update has messed with a lot of browser related website stuff.

But what does your browser have to do with zoning into certain areas?

OP have to you tried running File Check?

Now it's happening to me. I zone into Whitegate and it gives me this error on the downloading data screen.

I'm having this issue and I'm on 360. This fix doesn't help.

go to the search box and find the thread "Unable to log in on one character".
some people have tried different things and it work for them. Some people fully uninstall the game and it seems to work.

I haven't been on for a week due to a sickness in the family and when I got on last night I get the FFXI-3001 error and time out. I am unable to zone into Port Jueno when I try I get the black loading screen of death.GM said they couldn't help me ...so basically my character is stuck in the black void of nothingness. I was just wondering has the issue been resolved and I am the special one that missed out on how to fix it? Or is it still an on going problem? I don't think it's a net issue if its affecting all platforms and not just computers. It's hit to many players since the update.

Had the same thing happen to me going into Salvage II. I even up-dated my PS3 and its the same thing with it also. Have no trouble logging onto my other characters.
