New Job Points and beyond?

So, I was reading over the small snippet:

And was thinking, the only Higher Elemental Spells and last that we don't have that I can think of are for BLM, which are the -ga IV and Death, but what other things can be done for things like RDM, SCH, WHM, and SMN.

Outside of a new March or Madrigal (Which aren't REALLY needed) I can't think of things the BRD can use song wise. WHM could most definitely benefit from the Reviviscence JA. RDM would be nice to actually get Divine Spells to go with their skill, but would it work like JP Cat: WHM Spell List 1? SCH could in theory get a new Regen spell, or maybe a Double Weather or Helix II. Still that leaves SMN, and as much as it would suck, the only 'spells' I can think of would maybe be like Atomos, 1 time summons or the Dual Elementals (Which wouldn't be so bad if we could control theirs spells, but that's a snow balls chance...) And to improve the functions of JAs as it stands, COR, MNK, WAR, and PLD could maybe use something. But I can't even fathom what would help jobs like SAM or THF. (Not that I feel that SAM needs help as they're already beastly.)

don't forget Ultima for BLM. For bard, massacre elegy; a magic accuracy song or two would be nice as well (have physical accuracy song, why not magic accuracy?). Regen 3 for RDM would be nice, among some enfeebles i'd like to see (plague, poison 3, and some others come to mind).

Nope. Will never happen. At least, I wouldn't put any money on it, because it would either be OP as crap or useless as hell.

From what we've already seen there are many ways they could go with this so hard to say what they will do. I mean for brd they could do a gift that enhances etudes so they don't decay like they said they were doing lol. Smn they might do something like more more bps or something like the atomos where you get an avatar that just comes out for some kind of effect. All the other mages could get higher tiers of their iconic spells. Cmon dia IV and frazzle/distract III. Oh let's have T2 barspells!!!

I'm reserving judgment on the new Job Point categories until the information is finally released.

Considering the fact SE isn't letting the proverbial "cat out of the bag", I'm betting most of the stuff will be pretty underwhelming with a few "OMG I MUST HAZ DAT" things for a few jobs.

Isn't this like the 3rd time they've told us about gifts/jp categories for this update with no real information about them? Someone is trying to look busy

I'm really tired of them saying new job points will be added but not telling us what they are.

idk there might actually be something to infer from the image. Maybe slow 3 is coming to rdm, and it looks like the thf is using a stealing type move. My guess is they are adding something to despoil since steal and mug already have job point categories.

But yeah I agree with the sentiment that it would be nice to know if the new categories are worth saving for, or if I should just use the job points I have been saving for the update.

Might as well hold on to them if you're concerned. I dunno, I am only working on BST JP right now and I can't imagine anything being able to trump the haste category until I've finished maxing it. 10 per cent haste without gearing for it is just too good.

Enhances ready: decreases ready recast by another 1 second per jp :p. Then you could call us pups with your ja spam lol

I just don't understand why this is such a big secret. Are they trying to spare us from disappointment? Why can't you guys just give us the list, community team?

Well, it's not posted on the JP side either, which means the devs just didn't release the info.

I'm sure they didn't. That's the problem. This is like the t hird time this has been announced and not even a drop of new information has been given.

Just another Job Point Category I thought on for Blue's might benefit to it's use!

I was wondering if it be possible to add a new job point categories under blue-mage job points category which would allow lowering the ability/re-usable timer on the time it takes to able to re-use Diffusion, Unbridled Learning, Unbridled Wisdom again and on the second two it would allow us to use those spell's activated by those two job abilities even more quicker and less of a dormant in a waiting time til using those spell's again. Just a thought or a suggestion.

I think up to this point that merited abilities have been left out of the Job Point cycle because there's no guarantee that players will have X merited, so we won't be seeing Diffusion points. Unbridled Wisdom already has its JP (And for some reason, I doubt they're going to stack them... call me pessimistic). Unbridled Learning is still in the cards for JP changes, though I expect that they'll do something like magic damage or more conserve MP. ~.~

I wish they would just allow us to go 5/5 on all the job-specific merits at this stage of the game. If they didn't just want to remove the barrier, it could be unlocked in the HP/MP category (since that has become a slight "catch-all" with the max. merit points in there) for 45 merits as a one-level unlockable that would allow job-specific merits to be 5/5. They could even add that "special touch" and make it two things to unlock, one for Group 1 and one for Group 2. Every BLM would have the ability to have 5/5 on all AMII, every RDM would have Paralyze II, Slow II, etc., which have been asked for multiple times as scrolled spells.

I would just think that, at this stage in the game, there's no reason to have to weigh trade-offs for putting one level in one job-specific item when a different one would have to suffer from the lack of that level.

I feel that at this point, they should just let the merit groups get maxed out like the JPs can be. I mean look at the BRD Relic, It has Dirge and Sirvente as the additional bonus for the armors... I don't know a single BRD that has those merited, and NIN as more things to merit than almost any other. And It's not so detrimental to have all these maxed as most things are so 'Cookie Cutter' anyway. What harm would come from letting a BLM, RDM, or a NIN max out those merits? I'm sure there's a few others out there. If there's going to be JP/Gift categories for JAs,Spells, etc. that are merits, they might as well let a person gain them all at that point.

Just wanted to contribute that all my merits are totally maxed out on both Blue Categories and on the 2nd category I put most of my points towards being able to equip more points for blue spell's into job abilities or just more spell's to utilize and thus is why I also mentioned the suggestion about adding the 2 abilities into Job points category to further em even more. ;-(

I guess, if you have to fight about it../sigh...fine!..:cool:
