Could be useful for Ininn I suppose; that is, if you can stay behind a monster that is moving back and forth between DDs XD.
To be honest I would like to use it, but until they fix eva tanking I don't see how this would help.
I've been in parties with NINs tanking AA fights on difficult with no problems at all. Same with THF/NINs for that matter.
Nin does have its' niche, but I agree with Zero, evasion tanking does not fly on everything; works on AAs and A Few other higher tiers from my experience. Nin can tank, nobody is resenting that, but some mobs do not give two craps about your evasion.
magic and AOEs make it even harder, but when it works it is nice
Didn't the update in August last year make NIN tanking slightly easier, with multi-hit TP moves only stripping 1 shadow now?
I don't ever remember them saying that.
It was something along the line of "the chance that less shadows will be lost during a multi-hit attack will increase when an ilvl weapon is equipped in the main hand." Or something along those lines. I forget if it referenced ilvl or +weapon skill. I'm also not aware of how effective it is.
As far as I can tell it isn't

It's working in exactly the same way the same update 6 years ago did it. 5 hit attack always takes 5 shadows. A one hit AoE will take 2-3 shadows from /NIN but 1-2 from NIN/???. Only helps DD ninjas, doesn't help you tank.
I've seen an AOE wipe shadows
