What is the best DD?

I want to be the strongest DD there is. Please tell me what job is strongest and why so I can be the best DD.

Hmm with a good player playing them, almost any job can be a great dd in abyssea.Hell even subpar dds w/ good atmas can pump out decent damage. Overall though i would have to go with war- because they can proc the most while still putting out great damage. MNK isnt too far behind on that list though so ya it is a hard choice. Outside of abyssea though I have always been partial to SAM, even though i never bothered to lvl it lol. BTW- love the sig- We need more bacon mages!

If you're compairing perfectly geared max level jobs with equal buffs and no consideration for how quick they die. Great axe war/sam with hasso up will out damage everything else.

Well, according to Byrth's math, it's Mythic drg vs Emp war.

Mythic drg ahead by 5% w/o looking at wyvern, but also not looking at retaliation (because can't rly model that when the mob should be swapping targets when both reach enmity cap)

Mythic DRG and Empyrean WAR were just the only two I modeled because someone asked. I don't know if there's another job that's better than either.

I'd guess that the "best theoretical DD" is going to depend heavily on buffs and whether or not you're in Abyssea.

It's true though, Mythic drg and Empyrean war are the top dogs, I'd say mnk and nin are a good tie for second, Hi and VS are pretty deadly too. Though, OAT high damage weapon with a huge % boost in damage to our best ws is pretty scary.

Ive broken 10k on that mob as blu, does that mean the blu > drg?

I have seen BLM's doing 9k damage Tornadoe's and 5k Blizzard V all day in Abyssea.

My vote BLM, SAM, WAR, MNK, DRG. SAMs are probably the fastest DD's.

Inside abyssea drk is a weaker DD than brd or whm. Outside its still weaker than drg/war/nin/mnk/sam/blu/pup/thf/dnc (not in any particular order).

While I don't play the game much, just once every 4 days or so, I tend to find a bunch of Warriors and Samurai around when I'm playing.

But Black Mages really get on my bad side when they try and sneak attack trick attack Burst II along with Paladins with Flash... My eyes will never be the same.

DRK is still top dog in/outside of abyssea if you play it right, i have out DD'd MNKs with my torcleavers. just gotta sub thf and save to 300TP then BOOM 6.7k WS

True maybe some of those, but drk with a sub or war can use stacked statistics to make major damage.

BST Is the most powerful. They are so powerful plus you have really powerful pet that gets atmas too. If you add both of them up they would do the most damage out of any job!!

Yes and no.

I think that without pets DRG would outdamage a BST.

From what I've seen though, wyverns are pretty weak pets.

If you choose the right jug pet the total damage of BST+PET would win by a fair amount.

Actually I was stating it was a bad blade hi and I used a terrible weapon for the jin, you should learn how to read.

Actually, doesnt mictlantecuhtli take 200% physical damage when casting? Even with losing 50% you would still be doing 150% extra damage. I can do 7k on neutral mobs with drakes and I dont even have a relic/mythic/emp.

I would be willing to bet that when it takes extra damage it cancels all damage type mitigation myself.

Bad Hi or not, its still doing 37.5% more damage unresisted, +% damage taken does not remove the natural resistances a mob has in place already. It'd be like if we tried to WS a skeleton that had -25% damage from slashing/pierce, but still had +100% damage taken, it isnt going to be an automatic +75% damage taken, it's going to be +100% after the resistance is calculated.

I call BS, no drg can average more than 3.5-4.5k with drakes, random 5-6k spikes maybe on lucky triple attacks, but no way in hell you are hitting 7k on nonpiercing weakness mobs.
