I'm so glad I lvlled Blu the hard way back then like 3-4 years ago soon after ToAU was released. Getting each spell can be a pain in the ass in itself as well. At least with the other mage jobs you can buy your spells so it's not as bad.

I leveled BLU to 75, pre-abyssea. But I'd have to say yes, it'd be the worst job to abyssea.

pup easily. it takes time to understand automaton AI, level all those skills, especially ranged and magic being able to do it once every 20-25 seconds. lets not forget all the attachments that are getting more expensive because no one does the assaults for them
i dont think blue is as terrible anymore since you can find most mob families in abyssea at EP ranges, and then for the ones you cant, you have an extra 15 levels to help you solo them -

Blue was an atrocious job for me until it hit 81.
The play style just wasn't my cup of tea, and I was fully merited and geared in favor of the job to begin with.
I have to say it's one of the better jobs to leech up, for that reason, Blu 1-81 is nothing like Blu 81-90.
Pup is painful to skill up even without having to do so after leeching...
Throw in leeching and it just amplifies it.
I solo'd my pup form 1-75 and still came no where close to capping skills on my melee and ranged puppets, and I was trying. One of the main issues being the frequency at which the puppet actually fires it's crossbow. Other than the drum magazine there's not much you can do to reduce that delay really. Imagine trying to skill up Elemental Magic Skill, when all you have is ancient magic...
And you can't jam a nickel in your keyboard and spam summons like summoners can either...
SO yeah, I'd say pup is the most painful job to leech up. -

Actually BLU wasn't so bad I lvled it from lvl 30-90 and took a week to get all my major spells and capped blu skills /cheers. But I also had all blu spells to lvl 30. So I just did alot of usless spamming in my abyssea parties. After I got capped skill that when i went and learned spells .

Especially PUP Its hard enough to skill up Ranged on that damn thing, my Magic is capped though. -

after leeching tons jobs....here is my thoughts. You will need to skill up solo or with friends always ~.* Going out high level blue makes getting spells eazy you got more play with them and can link all the mobs and diaga and wear your af etc. Plus blue spamming of low lv blue spells skills you up fast while you are out. Bst has no true skill from jug pets (mostly used now) other than your axe skill. So I saved money leaching that nin and ranger . Hmm i would say leaching pup is the worst. Other than actualy lvling all your core skills you have to actually lv skill up your puppets which is ughh. In the end I still say play how you want level how you want....after all you pay the bill at the end of the month have fun XD. ~also if you leach up a job SKILL ITup !~

But you still won't be useful until you've gotten other spells. You've basically reinforced my point that rushing BLU to 90 doesn't save that much time, as most blue mages get the spells as they kill stuff to level. It's not like other mages where you can just whip out your vana'diel credit card and buy all the spells when you hit 90.Quote:

i soloed blu to 30 and got all spells for 30+ and when i did take it o abyssea i stop at 75 for 2days or so and worked on skill and spells which really didnt take to long with the blu AF gloves and body. i mostly rushed the levels and would work on skill and spels as something to do in spare time when ls mates wernt on to do stuff with etc. was like a hobby job i guess. but not like i did take time to get skill and spells to 75+ before continuing to 90, so i wouldnt be a complete mooch from those lv's :P
