Probably the laziest models we've seen in a very long time. I seriously hope these models are upgradable to something much more... intricate.
Nothing keeps you guys happy?
Happy people on MY internet?
P.S. Where is this new Delve armor anyway?
rage mode over gear asthetics? ....
As long as it has good stats, I won't care too much. Not that I'll probably ever obtain it anyway.
It's on the Seekers of Adoulin page under Theatres of War.
It does look pretty awful.
Mikinaak i kinda like how it looks, and Bokwus is decent, but omg Manibozho is worse looking than the old pink ranger from abysea >.>
I think the problem I have with it is that they just seem so...I don't know, boring? This gear is going to be the new best or close to it going by Matsui's statement. So, why can't the gear be really slick and cool-looking? Just take a page from almost any other FF to get an idea on what some cool high-level armor designs are, SE. You got it right with the Naakual weapons I think.
They could have re-colored an old set with more spectacular results
I don't think the heavy armor set looks too bad sans the helmet (I always like it when they remember to put all the chainmail details between the plates), I think the light armor and mage armor look pretty atrocious though.
It's almost like we're playing a fantasy game or something.Quote:

^My thoughts exactly.
The Mikinaak set is OK except for the bowl helmet. Manibozho body is a pink Mirke Wardercors with added under sleeves which makes it look like they have wooden forearms. Bokwus looks like a poor man's SMN AF where they couldn't afford any dye or a horn.
I'm not gonna lie. I'm gonna LOL when they change all the colours of the new armor to poo brown/green, and put a giant graphic of pieces of cheese all over it...to go with the whine of course.
These are terrible looking sets, definitely does not inspire me to want to do new Adoulin content. Theres still time to fix this at-least. I wouldn't mind a halt for the new content for a later date.
Is it me or the stats even after augment look like garbage ? Armada hauberk or bust ? I have the feeling the event will be very hard to access (300k bayld + 3 nakuual kills takes a lot of time plus a decent amount of hours killing wildkeepers reaves) and at the same time will provide minor buffs, mostly because each piece of gear is shared between many jobs.
The heavy armor looks bad, the light armor and robes looks fine to me. Light armor looks better than Thurandaut.
Wait, people are being serious about this? My previous post was half-assed because this looked like a half-assed attempt to find something, anything to pick a fight over.
TBH, I'm more concerned with the fact that there are pants on "Set: effects" armor sets. I don't like wearing pants, I don't wear them at home, in the grocery store, nor am I wearing them now, I'll be damned if I wear them in game. SE, listen to your subscribers, eliminate the need for pants.
On a more serious note, the demo pics looks an awful lot like the evolith system, which made a weapon description look very untidy and was a very unsuccessful system. Myself, I find most augmented pieces to look untidy in description unless the item has no native stats, such as ToTM weapons.
While the look of the armor isn't the greatest, I'm more worried about getting another worthless INT/MND/CHR/M.ACC set of gear for BRD. You can keep your MAB stuff too. I'd rather get some DD related on BRD and many other mages.
I think this system will pan out fine. Perhaps to sate the desires of those who are so ascetically sensitive...
Hopefully you can choose a design path along with customization of the augments. Given choices between options like the ACP/MKD/ASA/Moonshade Earring allows. That way you have pieces of equipment that can be unique rather than everyone running around with "optimal" augments.
I always disliked the way marduk looked. Not enough to complain at SE until they fixed it though. I also dislike whm and blm empyrean armor. Preferred the classic AF look. Aesthetics are a matter of opinion, that's why I find this thread so shocking. I like the light armor set and look forward to getting some myself someday. The mage armor set reminds me of SMN empyrean, which I've always thought was adorable on tarus. The heavy set looks fairly good, though the helm does sorta resemble Juggernaut. /displayhead.
LOL Battle Bard and Melee RDM!!! You have balls of steels to even think about suggesting fun ideas like that. Yup, let's not kid ourselves indeed. Never going to happen, trying to make the jobs to be more fun and thinking out of the box is unacceptable here in FFXI. Some idiots had the nerve to make ninja as a tank jobs as well as showing the online world of their Rdm solo everything accomplishment. This pretty much drove the nails on RDM's coffin and since then being relegated to the bastard child of SE list of jobs including Summoner. Keep thinking creatively and out of the box please, never let developers puts you in the corner and forced you to play the way it is intended. ZERG everything for the next shiny please!!
FFXI needs Sword-chucks.
So nobody remembers wearing Ohats with Kirin's Osode as the norm huh?
I like the new models actually.
I like the design of the mage set. I don't like the bland pastels used however. I love how vibrant Iaso/Paean is and I feel as if my char isn't even from the same game that it looks so different in comparison to the surrounding bland colors.
Design on Light melee is a bit lackluster but i think the Heavy armor is nice.

Sure let them spend developing time on this when, we all know where the real armour is gonna come from which is gonna be our new af set from this expansion. give or take a year or two before we unearth those....
Not likely considering they'd have to make more than 3 models and if you've looked at all of the sets that have come out over the past couple years from the new EG have all been in 3 sets with the exception of AF3. Which technically came out when 2 alliances in Dyna was still the norm. I don't know if it's the art department or if it's the development department but someone's had some cutbacks as of late.
Yup some serious cutbacks. It's getting worse and worse with each releases. First few rounds of Abyssea has interesting designs, a bit on the quirky side, but new and different. After that they just recolor existing gears and reusing the same assets with different stats. SoA gears just plain pathetic looking and rather on the ugly side. Who knows, a year from now, or 2 years, they may actually release newer better looking gears that are reasonable to obtains and not require you spend 50 hours just to try to have ONE chance to get your scraps items needed to enter the skirmish. The fact that you have to do so much works just to try the basic battlefield is inexcusable - give us a tag, or 3 days cool down, I don't care, but let us at least just go at it and practice and get better at DOING something that is NOT whacking da roots over and over....
could be killing the mobs. or healing people, or buffing people. or all of tat at once.
My problem with the Salvage sets was how rough the textures looked. The ideas were there, but the execution was poor for whatever reason.
These Delve armor sets are just embarrassing IMO because they seem aesthetically worse and creatively lazy compared to the armor that precedes them in the new armor hierarchy. As goofy as the Karieyh set color scheme is, it looks as if someone put a bit of effort into it. I'm hard pressed to say the same for Delve armor.
Ah of course! We know what it's like to look like fools, which is why we'd like to avoid doing so in the future.
