Devs: Familiars - piercing attack type?

So after doing limbus and checking wiki today, i notice we have NO piercing "attack" familiars to use.

SE apollyon - floor 1
Weak to slashing, immune to blunt.

Ok almost 90% r slashing pets, and bst axes r slashing, no issue

Floor 2
Weak to piercing, immune to slashing.

Here is my issue,
With bst main 2 weapons being slashing type (axe/scythe); i can not help at all and on this floor i have to use a pet with blunt dmg type, which slows things down and u r timed. And wow, dont let the mobs link with the shared hate or else a normal 2 min mob becomes a 10+min battle(2hr-ing does help kill faster but not my point)



So my point is, can we get one or two familiars with piercing dmg type? That way us bst can keep doing what bst do best. lol solo things

C+ dagger skill is enough for 75 content

OP is asking for piercing jugs, didn't ask about Dagger skill. Do you not agree that piercing jugs would be nice? If so, why?

Lol yes so i might need dagger up some for pre lvl cap stuff BUT...
Im pretty sure somewhere there is a NM that those C+ dagger dont do much too or u cant help ur pet because of nasty TP moves. There r many scenarios where the BST sits back and the pet fights alone.
So all im asking is that for abyssea and beyond (not pre75 stuff) they add a jug pet w/ piercing dmg type.

After reading other forums, i think a scorpion would be awesome also. and w/ tail attacks, it could easily be piercing

A piercing pet would be nice since we have Slashing and Blunt pets so it's the only damage type missing from beast pets. That said if I remember correctly they outright ignored the player base with the decision to not make a scorpion pet even though it had the most votes, so I doubt that's going to happen.

These are player created scenarios not SE created, I wouldn't hold my breath using that logic.

If SE expects us to stand there and take AoE to the chin, our problems are far greater than lacking a pierce jug.

I think it's safe to say that the Development Bros expect everyone in the universe to take AoEs on the chin.

There are monsters with 30' AoE attacks so that mages and Rangers get hit with horrible AoE attacks, there is a monster with AoE melee attacks who use Mighty Strikes so that not even Stun can prevent the horrible AoE attacks from raining down, there are monsters who use smaller AoEs back-to-back rather than one big one so that not even Earthen Armor or Sentinel's Scherzo prevent the damage of those AoEs, etc.

There's a real chance that whoever has been developing monsters recently loves Area of Effect attacks so much that he randomly leg sweeps wide swaths of fellow commuters while taking the train to work.

I agree that there should be jug pets available to cover all physical damage types.

However, as long as it is mostly to deal with lv75 content, I also don't think it would be too much of a problem to deal the piercing damage yourself, instead of with the pet, but whatever.

Keep in mind that these limbus issues you're talking about are not bst-specific. What do you think MNKs think about blunt-immune floors? How do you think DRGs enjoy piercing-immune floors?

As a BST, you have access to slashing and blunt easily, and only have to sacrifice kill speed when it comes to piercing. You're really not any worse off than most other jobs.

Actually I think MNK has access to a set of piercing-type claws. That or slashing. DRGs on the other-hand are SoL.

Considering there's Vampiric Claws for slashing and Birdbanes for piercing, I don't think they care. Maybe that's what we should be asking for, axes that deal blunt and piercing damage.

Most swords a DRG can use are slashing (I'm pretty sure just Joyeuse is the exception), DRG also gets Staff.

All that said due to how BST currently works it just doesn't make sense imo to make weapons to get around this issue over a pet.

DRGs have a blunt polearm.

Well not to be a bore or anything but before doing Limbus I tend to look on wiki, bg, and the ls website for which floors a beast master can solo. The ones with the issue of piercing > slashing I turn to the ls and snag a friend or two to go with me. Yes this means less coins in the end of the run per person but it also means you can clear those floors that would ultimately be a no go for soloing. As much as a new pet would be nice, especially one as mentioned in other player's posts, I just do not see s.e. adding to the pet list. I mean no offense in saying this but they did give us a pet with no special attacks. If they could stop and revamp that particular pet it would be nice.

As to "fixing" Slippery Silas SE said it was supposed to be a pet for show. I'm not sure why we'd want one for show but that was the logic in not giving it any abilities. Though I'm not sure why you tried to associate it with a piercing pet as Poroggos the family attack with their heads or a staff neither of which would be visually associated with piercing attacks.

I'd be happy in general to see more variety in pets. A piercing type would be nice to have. More support types that have area abilities that work on the party like Lucky Lulush, but expanded into areas such has party buffs. I'd also like to finally see a Black Mage pet. Not casting magic but monsters as pets who have a variety of elemental based attacks (i.e. Wamoura, Ruszors, etc.) and are given Magic Attack Bonus. Already broke the mold of charm-only pets with Crude Raphie. Might as well make things more interesting. I think personally it wouldn't be stepping on the toes of any other job and it would overall facilitate more use out of Beastmaster in a party setting if it is done correctly.

Regarding Limbus specifically, I always use Flowerpot Merle for the 2nd and 3rd floor of SE Apollyon. Wild Oats counts as piercing damage and since the 3rd floor is blunt damage weakness, I swap to using Head Butt. To contribute on the 2nd, I just use daggers with Evisceration to speed up kills.

I know this, and it was sort of my point. All other jobs need to take off their main weapons and resort to a weapon with far less damage output to be able to kill certain Limbus mobs. BST is in the exact same situation with their lack of piercing pets. They have to rely on daggers, while using a pet that deals damage the monster is strong to, but not immune to. Also, they can still make their pets tank the monsters by using Snarl, even if the pet doesn't deal a lot of damage on their own.

Bst needs to use dagger on things that are immune to blunt and slashing. Drg needs to use a sword on things that can only be damaged by slashing, while they have to use a staff (they have B-something in this after all) combined with wyvern damage for blunt. Mnk has the two earlier options, both of which do not give access to things like Vsmite, and even if it did, they would not take any damage from WSes because WS damage type never changes.

Thinking about it, mages, thieves and dancers are probably far worse off than most other jobs, with their terrible h2h and sword skills.

Except Limbus is the only zone that piercing damage type is a major factor so why ignore it? Unless you're interested in a non damage type pet.

On floor 2 I change to daggers and fire up an apkallu jug. Agreed though, being able to cover piercing with a pet would be nice. I was thinking it would be cool if there were a set of JAs that we could use to change our pets' damage type for a couple minutes. Training: Piercing, Training: Slashing, Training: Blunt, or something along those lines.

See thats the kinda thinking im talking about. I like it but seems a lil over powered.
to turn falco into a better killing machine...like if he could go blunt vs skele, be amazing but a lil to strong

Mainly what I was trying to get at wasn't so much as promoting a new pet but them to look back at some of the pets we received recently and making repairs. Yes I will not deny I would love a new pet I really would but I just don't know if we ask enough if they will actually come forth with them.
As for the whole limbus ref I gave was mainly a suggestion of why I don't solo that particular route. ^.^ Besides the fact still like doing stuff like limbus with friends more then solo purposes.
And to sum it all up to the O.P. I am one to stand behind you on wanting to see at least one new pet but I would also like to see some repairs done to at least one of the "new" released pets.

The development team has plans to introduce new pets moving forward. We made sure your Pokey Pete... I mean... piercing type pet request was delivered for future consideration!

It would be great if you could give Summoners some useful piercing Blood Pacts as well. At the very least, you could change one of the 70 pacts or Eclipse Bite to piercing.

I know we can't have everything, but I see no harm in this idea. /approved
