Let me tell you a tale.
Back in the days of lore and ancient riddles their rested a house of auctions, where many an adventurer would go to seek out items of great or small power and attempt to wreak havoc and excellence in the rest of the world through their use.
But then something happened, something changed...
The items began to become more and more rare. Though these houses were numerous, too many adventurers had grown through using their powers and reached the furthest reaches of the multiverse with their help. These true, powerful heroes had earned their place and might and equipment through blood and sweat and hardship. None question this achievement.
But lo, and look upon those left behind... They see these once powerful houses collecting nary more than dust these days, with a fair trinket at reasonable prices once in a blue moon. They too, struggle forwards to garner power, but without the aid of these relics fall short from others well prepared, or forgotten by those too powerful to care.
The masses without power look up to Port Jeuno and cry out "Help us!" And the listless powerful masses look back down and whisper... "lrn2 75+"
How long? Must this truly continue? The world has aged and with it it's kind have aged as well. Aged to leave the young, the listless, the powerless; behind.
But that fear has been cast aside. Without power of their own, or power of possessions, the weak masses cast their hands into the depths of the earth and dragged it's dominion forwards, guided by the compassion of the few, and said "It shall be purged in ice and lightning! And much power shall we gain!"
They cast their hands into the swirling nether, powerless to destroy, but not powerless to help, and said "You don't want to manage these boxes on your own, calm the hell down, I got this!"
Summary: Complain complain complain. Summoner burns parties? Brilliant. Abyssea chest management? Why not. Without people at low levels (90% of the game is high level) and without gear being made or placed on the auction houses (since you all earn it through quests and abyssea now) we've got zero chance other than to try our damndest and not get stuck waiting for a never-to-exist party in the middle of Valkurm dunes or Garliage or whatnot for the rest of our very quickly to be determined as pitiful existences.

There are solutions with a wide range from "Change the levels cause we're huffy" to "Gear" to "Recruiting masses of new players" to "Bribes" to lots and lots of things.
So long as the lower levels need to gain EXP, they're gonna do it however, whenever, and by whatever means or reason they have to. Don't forget, you might be level 90 and all, but you were us once, and being in our boots without that high level option or two would still suck badly.
I'm not complaining about my spot, I'm working my way up, but you complaining about me when I effect ZERO of what you do, come on. Just plain silly. -

I enjoy Abyssea, I did the whole 20 straight levels of robber crabs things, so now I can say I did it too when people brag about the agonizingly brutal early stages of FFXI around PC launch, though I don't see the point since bad design isn't something to be praised. I wouldn't wish that garbage on anyone else.
As long as you spend enough time with the job to learn the fundamentals, you can learn the advanced stuff over time once you're already leveled. I will say there are a few jobs I think are exceptions to this statement, namely blue mage or beastmaster which have much higher learning curves, but beyond that I don't really feel the need to endlessly grind over and over.
I sure as Hell didn't learn anything new playing Samurai after Dragoon for example. -

It's more a commentary that I came back after several -years- of not playing.
This? THIS? Is the biggest complaint people have about the game? I'm so glad they opened up the exp ranges quite a bit. that sure makes 1-30 a lot of tolerable. Except for the fact there is a distinct lack of gear, spells, and items that become essential to those levels. My mages are my highest levels and they must be roughly 12-15 levels behind on their spells minus the absolutely critical ones to functioning successfully. This is becasue while they have FULL EARNED their level 90 status.... they aren't farming any of that crap any more!!

But at the same point the SMN burn parties? Holy moly! Having 90 paladins is something I could get used to!
Cleaning up boxes in abyssea for players busy making monsters their bitches? Easy enough job, and needed enough. what's the difference if I'm 30 or 90? Both are sitting in the back just collecting cruor and keys and not participating in the battle. Only reason this should be a complaint is if someone wants to rotate out of the fighting to do the keys, but it's just changing one hat for another at that point.
I haven't been to abyssea yet, but I sure as heck intend to learn my duties as competently as possible and fit in! It's exp, fun with buddies, and they way the low levels have solved their troubles of no one leveling between 30 and 75 any more. what do they really -expect us to do, magically level or hack the game? :P -

I have never leeched in a Abyssea alliance before but I don't disapprove of it cause I know it's hard to find parties. What I don't like though are the leeches that join and go afk. You can key or something.

I've always thought about leveling cloth or leathercraft. I would make gear then.

If you want your mid-level armor, make it profitable for us to make. NQ yields of crafting are typically sold at loss while the HQ brings in the cash. With nobody buying the HQ, you need to buy our NQ at profit. That means, depending on item, a good 5-200k more depending on what you're buying (occasionally more I'd expect).

What they need is a vendor that can supply the base versions of all the weapons and armor from level 1-AFv1 (maybe even early 70s). This would complete the cycle of gil going from player to system, instead of low level player to high level player.
This is, unless, people start griping about not getting +1s of such gear. -

I never complained about the whole Abyssea leeching/keywhoring. I'm actually all for it. Most of the FFXI playerbase has had 7-8 years to lvl many low lvl jobs the hard long grind, so now to those players we need a break from lvlling hardcore like that and give us all time to stop the long-time lvlling and enjoy other content FFXI has to offer since there's a lot out there. A lot of the playerbase probably hasn't done most of the quests, missions, crafting, etc. because they might've spent a long time taking as many jobs as they can to the max lvl (75 almost a year ago) and they had to do it through that long grind.
The world is changing and everything in this world is becoming a faster pace, but people should be happy that they still have that long grind option if they feel they need to get their grinding fix in play to take their time to lvl a favourite job. For myself personally I would rather breeze through lvl nowadays because my real goal in FFXI right now is to complete every single quest available that FFXI has to offer. The quest that will take me the longest to achieve most likely will be the Mythic quest-line. I am also glad to get all jobs to 75+ now to finish up the rest of the AF quests and also to obtain the Nyzul weapons to unlock all those WSs. -

the main reason why there isnt any gear for low-mid lvls is because its "not needed". why should i gear up my lvl 30 when im just going to leech til 90 on it? thats the mentality now. when back in the day, you would need to regear after every xp party, because you actually did something for those 60 levels. now, its all about the leech. its very sad, noone wants to actually work for stuff anymore.
people wont be happy until they log in with all lvl 90 jobs, fully skilled, and god gear in their inventory. cause getting that stuff is a "time sink" and not worth it. -

It gets much worse as time goes along, and that's per piece. Sure, supply isn't an issue, but the whole reason buy at AH over NPC is that it is cheaper and you know another player is benefiting. As an alchemist, all I can get you is add. effect weapons and cermet gear though....Quote:
