What did happen with the Spanish?

I know that FFXI already is 9 years, FFXIV is beginning and none of the two has been translated into one of the languages most spoken about the world: the Spanish

Surely already it will be very late for FFXI due to his long life, but it could not keep silent about me. I do not deal why you have treated this way to the whole Spanish community.

Not even the principal history neither in Spanish, nor a technical service ... and now not even the forums

maybe it's a server thing, but i usually 'eavesdrop' on people's conversations (when they use /say) in both spanish and italian at least once a day. and i never heard any french or german in about three years of playing!

Well in FFXI there's actually a lot of spanish speaker ppls, but i don't think SE will translate the game to spanish,why?, pues por que si no les interesó antes, no les interesará ahora, lol many of us who speak spanish, also speak or write english in a way we can get understanded and understand the other players, sadly for spanish speakers but true, lol

@ wenceslao: not true. most of the spanish-speaking people playing ffxi know english, otherwise the game doesn't make much sense. my daughter is a big final fantasy fan, played most of the old ones, loved this game, but her english wasn't enough for her to enjoy it since she's interested in the stories and places. so she stopped playing after about a month. if she had a spanish version she probably would have gotten about 3-5 friends of her into the game, also!

I knew personally about 15 people back on Kuj that spoke Spanish, but I only saw 2 Germans. Never French, though.

La comunidad de habla hispana, latinos, españoles, peruanos es bastante grande, no sabia que hubiera planes de sacarlo en español y ya uno esta acostumbrado aqui en el norte de mexico al inglés puesto que los tenemos aqui al lado. Pero ciertamente no caeria mal la version al menos que reconozcan la comunidad como tal.

Actually back in the day Seraph had a strong following of french players(currently known as bismarck) not so much anymore though still know a few. I've only met about 4 german players in like 8 yrs playing(2 in my social) but like you said probably a server thing.

Spanish auto Translate <Si,Por Favor> !

There are quite a few french speakers on Shiva- but they (mostly) also speak english.

I do not say that the game does not come in French or German. Since FINAL FANTASY came to play1, the saga has been translated into the English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. I only think that they must have had the consideration of having brought the game to our language.

Crisis Core, Dissidia (PSP), Crystal beared (WII) or enclosed FFIII, FFIV or Revenant Wings (DS) came in Spanish. Why Square-Enix does he forget us with both games online FF?

I understand that a technical service in Spanish costs a money, but at least they could have translated the texts. Nothing any more, in order that we could understand the history without pulling dictionary or refilling the hollows that we do not understand with our imagination.

I, personally, had enjoyed much more of CoP if I had informed my good of what was happening

Yo, personalmente, hubiera disfrutado mucho más de CoP si me hubiera enterado bien de lo que pasaba

It would be nice if they decide to translate the game, they said that they might do it and we are still waiting.
I really don't understand why, Spanish is the 2nd language most used in the world and the comunity in the game is big.
The comunity is actually bigger than what everyone think, a lot of spanish don't have relation with other people for language barriers, they are there but hidden, we are just a few that can understand and talk english decently enough to talk in game or writte in forums, so those are the ones you see, but there are a lot more.
Plus a lot of people that maniffest in spanish forums that they don't play for the language, since they won't understand anything.
When i started the game i had no idea of english, only had a weak base from school, i learned almost all i know playing here.
At first i didn't even know how to open the menu and i didn`t knew anyone to explain me, my first friends were a NA social ls but i had a lot of problems to comunicate, didn't even knew how to tell them i was playing on a laptop, so they could tell me how to configure the keyboard to compact, took them more than 1 week to understand my problem so i was near 2 weeks in game without even knowing how to open the menu, and walking with the mousse lol, a lot of spanish that started the game left it soon because of this.
If they had translate the game they'd had more spanish people here, it's late for XI but they could work on it for XIV honestly.

You're adding too many ares in your calculations. Online gaming is not very big in most spanish speaking nations.

That the Spanish is the second language most spoken about the world it is a reality. With regard to the persons' quantity that they speak Spanish in the FFXI, there would be necessary to do a study. Between Spain and Latin America there are many players, quantity that surely had been a Superior if it had been in Spanish.

Already I say that I understand that the technical service is given in these languages, but a translator pays for the texts of the missions and quest it had not cost so much either and had satisfied to a community that had been bigger of having born ourselves in mind.

Since Arcalimo appears, it is possible that already it is late for FFXI but it it is not for FFXIV (If they manage to revive it, on the other hand)

Que el español es la segunda lengua más hablada del mundo es una realidad. Respecto a la cantidad de personas que hablan español en el FFXI, habría que hacer un estudio,. Entre España y América latina hay muchos jugadores, cantidad que seguramente hubiera sido superior si hubiese estado en español.

Como apunta Arcalimo, puede que ya sea tarde para FFXI pero no lo es para FFXIV (Si consiguen resucitarlo, por otro lado).

Por cierto, mensaje para los hispano hablantes: deberíamos hacer más ruido. Al final siempre pasamos por el aro y estamos todos aquí hablando en inglés. Aunque hablemos en inglés aquí para que todos nos entiendan, deberíamos también poner nuestro mensaje en español. Tenemos que ser nosotros los primeros en ser considerados con nosotros mismos.

You say it. Market is. Anyhow, never I understood the people who criticizes something that can benefit others without harming the others. They look like to me destructive critiques for the zeal to criticize. Perhaps that the game is in Spanish does it go to affect the others? Not.

I know the market of Spanish had increased if they had translated it, since I know of many people who had played it and it has not done it for being only in English. Since it is not in Spanish, what do they play? So to World of Warcratf, who yes is translated. It had bought for WoW and it is not for FFXI?

S-E hubiera aumentado el mercado de españoles si lo hubieran traducido, pues sé de mucha gente que lo hubiera jugado y no lo ha hecho por estar sólo en inglés. Como no está en español, ¿A qué juegan? Pues a World of Warcratf, que sí está traducido. ¿Hubo mercado para WoW y no lo hay para FFXI?

The comunity is actually a big comunity in FFXI, bigger than German and French comunities.
The big mayority of Spain comunity its mainly on ragnarok, but spanish isn't just Spain, a lot of latinoamericans play the game also and their main language is spanish.
Hell, i moved to cerberus server some time to live a new experience with english comunity and learn some english and i found almost more spanish speakers in there than in ragnarok lol, true that we were only like 4 from Spain, but there was a lot of latinoamericans in there.
If online gaming isn't big in spanish comunity is because there isnt any good online game in spanish, give us one and you'll see us more.

You're failing to concider the logistics of translating and programming. The potential of the market size doesn't out weigh the cost.

Because they have nothing better to do. Much like there's a Square Enix NA, EU, and so on. DId you concider why there's not a SE Spain or what-not?

PS2 limitation!!! please forgive me lol because i am for sure just kidding here :) I don't see why not seriously, i agree they should add it up.

Square Enix EU (SQUARE ENIX LTD.) is for England, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and other PAL regions.
Also, as someone said, a lot of their games, including the rest of Final Fantasy saga is translated to Spanish, its only in online games where they fail to do it, the game it self insn't a big deal to translate, even if they dont give support in spanish, the translation of the game alone would be good.
See FFVII, even with it's crappy translation with stuff like "Allé voy!" or "Tifa es pillado por sorpresa", etc., if they didn't translate it RPGs wouldn't be what they are now for the spanish comunity, since that game opened the door.
If they don't do the same for online games what do they spect? They got more spanish people than they deserve for not bothering at all.

For XI i guess it really is ps2 limitations since they can't even add new words to the auto translate function, which is even worse lol
But as said before, for FFXIV they are still on time to work for it.

Exact, if FFVII (who was translated frankly badly) had not come in Spanish, today there would no be so many fans in Spain. On not having translated the game on line, there are no so many Spanish players. Only the most very strong followers, that we fight with the language since can.

Already I said it before, we have received to the Spanish games as FFXII Revenant Wings (Which I celebrate) for what I do not swallow that a translator finds it hard to them to contract very much and to insert the translated texts.

Exacto, si FFVII (que estaba francamente mal traducido) no hubiera llegado en español, hoy no habría tantos fans en España. Al no traducir el juego en línea, no hay tantos jugadores españoles. Sólo los seguidores más acérrimos, que lidiamos con el idioma como podemos.

Ya lo dije antes, hemos recibido al español juegos como FFXII Revenant Wings (Lo cual celebro) por lo que no me trago que les cueste mucho contratar un traductor e insertar los textos traducidos.

Where do you people get your facts?! Who says Spanish speakers don't play video games? YOU CRAZY?! The US has a MAJOR percent of Spanish speakers, in fact is the 2nd most spoken language in the US. Besides is not about a market situation although it would have sales on the side from the Spanish community if we had a Spanish version.

I see it as a...more enjoyable way for the Spanish speaking community to play the game. It is not discrimination against the Spanish speakers BUT there is a preference and I do see the why SE SHOULD have made a Spanish version. I can understand why they would make a French version, there is a decently large French speaker community, BUT not as big as the Spanish speakers, and is good they have a German version but I don't think it was as necessary as the Spanish version, and well....what can we say about Japanese speakers? Their community is even smaller than the Germans BUT it is Japanese who made the game so we can't argue about that LOL.

Yes most Spanish speakers know English I don't understand why they have to be almost...obligated to speak English even when it doesn't concern to other people? I often hear people say "english please!, speak english!, talk english only!" even when the "foreign (not only talking about Spanish here)" party isn't addressing to the English/Japanese ('cause they do this too) speakers who just want to poke their nose into "foreign" business, a good example of this behavior would be any Call of Duty or shooting game where you can talk through a headset, every time someone speaks a "foreign" language that person gets flooded with racist comments. Last I checked in the game rules English wasn't a requirement to play the game so they should have the freedom of speech like anyone else does. I don't want to make this an ethnic debate even though I probably already did, but things are what they are and anyway you sugar coat the truth of the fact is that the Spanish community has been neglected.

So my point is, why bother making versions in other languages and going through all the hassle of....programing and translating when the audience they are targeting is not as vast and large as the others? Leaves me no option but think that that SE has a preference for other countries than Spanish speakers. I could go on and on about this subject but whatever, people will flame me and try whatever to twist my argument invalid but these are my 2 cents.

Used to see alot of Spanish on Alexander years back. I am not sure why they did not do Spanish. I don't think Spanish is the 2nd most use language because then it would be an official language of the Olympics. also if you choose to live in a country that has a different official language than the one you were born with then yes it is expected of you to speak it openly. This doesn't mean you can't speak your native tongue in private or to translate things or in the rare situation where certain words/ideas don't translate very well. Trust me that it really does depend on which server you're on with what language mixes you'll have. Many original servers have a high Japanese player base with NA players coming second. Some of the newer servers might have a very high NA/EU base and a low Japanese base. Also don't forget that Canada is part of the NA crowd where they even have a whole section of the country that speaks French and at times insists on the rest of the country to speak it because they're that rude again at times. To the point where French HAS to be on everything.
