Hexed materials.

New abjuration gear at the moment is one of the best available for the most part, and in fact abjurations are pretty rare and somewhat hard to obtain, which is fine. However, the real problem is obtaining a -1 hexed item to use them on. As of today crafters don't bother doing it because materials are extremely rare and with only a handful of people doing Legion and even less doing T1 AU/Tav VW, demand is very low, thus putting crafters at a huge loss danger since HQing is difficult and the NQ is very likely to never sell. Cause most of the lucky people who obtain abjuration scrolls just hold onto them hoping forever for a -1 to eventually appear on auction house. The market that could be profitable for everyone is literally dead.

Now, I suck at economics and don't know if I'm wrong on this matter, but I really think that hexed materials should be a bit easier to obtain. I don't mean they should drop all the time anywhere, but a bit more ease of access to these mats would probably help everyone get what they want. I understand abjurations are supposed to be expensive, but if not even crafters can find a reason it's a lose-lose situation for us all.

Crafters don't need any sort of incentive to make them on their own unless there are untradable items involved which would require them to spend time themselves actually farming that item. Most crafters will make anything for little to no money if given all the materials.

The difficulty of a HQ is irrelevant in that case, they just give whatever item they make. If the person absolutely must have the HQ, they have to repeat the process and either sell the NQ, eat the loss, or ask the crafter to desynth it to try to recoup something. Ultimately an HQ will likely cost more due to needing to make several attempts, but you would pay more at the AH for the same reason, so all it does is randomize the cost on HQ.

Easing access to materials does not make it more likely for crafters to make them. In fact, it could very well backfire and crafters won't make the item because its too easy to make and there is no longer a profit incentive.

This is False, the reason why you dont see hexed gear is just as the OP said, materials are very very rare and the abj is very very rare also. Im one of the best crafters on bismark and the concept behind hexed gear drives me nuts!

This, totally this, I can't even find NQ to use my abj(they're such inv-1 atm without hexed gears)

I tried to buy my own mat and make them, but staghorn coral is almost never on AH.

I see no reason why crafting material should be this rare, it's 100x harder to get a crafting material than getting abj. If hexed gear supposed to be hard to get, then abj should be the one that's hard to get, not crafting material. Not to mention that makes skilling up much harder too.

Atm Staghorn coral only drops from VW nobody does, with very low drop rate. That nobody will bother to make VW ally just to farm them. Ppl spam Qilin/Jeuno T3 everyday for gil, spams Gnat every once a while for gil, but rarely spam VW for staghorn coral.

Although it also drops from legion, but only a few LS that does legion, and they usually keep the material themselves if it drop. Thus I never see any legion LS put staghorn coral on AH for sell too.

Any crafter without a legion group, they probably will never find any coral on AH.

Hex gear crafting material needs to drop from other VW, or at least with higher drop rate so ppl would start making ally to farm them for gil.

I see no problem with the cost and rarity of the ingredients and materials. If you account for how much more gil is in the game now than 7 years ago, the new materials are no different than Shining Cloth/Damscene Cloth/Divine Log/Venemous Claw circa 2005. Back then those items went for 6-20mil each which was appropriate considering only a few NMs dropped these items and they were heavily camped. Level 99 abjuration gear should be rare and expensive and the HQs should be even rarer and more expensive just like at 75.

No.... There is really no reason to make them as rare as they are right now and saying because some items were rare in 2005 doesn't really have any bearing on today's game. I agree with the OP 100%, these items needs to be made more accessible.

This is another example of elitists say oh its rare cause its suppose to be a STATUS BADGE for the elite and that those of us that are casual can GTH! and I personally agree that these things should be a lot more common so more people can get their hands on them. This is old SE thinking like when they made that crazy stupid system for mythics. Lets hope someone reads this and can get a fix on it. I mean come on drop a couple of the logs out of the Treasure Table and we might see this problem resolved lol.

The problem isn't about how expensive/hard to obtain HQ gears are, but rarely anyone do the content that drops the material


You can have one billion gil, able to afford full set of -1 plus augment item, but nothing you can do if nobody is selling them.

Provide some incentive for people to do them. Offer to do 4-6 VWNM runs with x million for each crafting material, giving out free cells to max droprate. Hell, give them the NQ if they want it.

im also seeing some major problems obtaining taffeta cloth on quetz server. i been camping Manes for 3 days now and seen the NM once..... ill kill the PH's at night, sometimes gettin a 5min respawn of the ghosts, but then other times gettin anywhere up to 16-20min respawns..... wiki and a few other forums say it can only spawn at night, so wen it takes 16-20mins to repop thts 1 possible chance at the NM popping every 1800-0600....... i cant see how this makes sense to have an NM tht is so random on popping but so widely used in high tier leather/cloth and smithing, any idea's? :/

AH seems to be perma-stocked with them, some servers enough to try for a HQ, so it can't be THAT rare.

Yep I need Hexed Kecks and would love the -1 but lets see, there is currently 1 on bazaar game wide according to ffxiah.com and oh look its 35,000,000...hmmm yeah dont think the stats are worth 35 freakin million gil. Have a hard enough time justifying the 5 million the nq normally go for.

As hard as the good abjurations are to obtain they could at least cut us a little break on the some of these mats...

As far as I know, it has lower drop rate than other VW money item, so most of the time ppl would rather do other money VW(such as Gnat/Qilin).
