Your turn!
... we didn't have any portable storage. All your food, ninja tools, meds and quest items had to be kept in your main inventory, which, by the way, was still at 60.
I remember not being able to exp, not because there was nobody seeking, but because all of the good camps in the dunes, qufim, and the jungles were all taken.
I remember when levelling was solo to about level 11-12 go to Valkurm Dunes to 20, Quifm Island to 25, Elshimo Island to 30, Garlaige Citadel to 36-37ish, Crawler's Nest to 50, Garlaige Citadel Basement to 55-58ish, then quite a few spots opened up for partying.
I remember it took me almost a year to get one job lvl 75 . -.- Casual playing at the time mind you but crazy easy to level nowadays lol.
I remember when Summoner only had spirits, no Avatars. It was easily the most useless class available, as anything other than a nerfed healer.
I remember when I decided to play all of the Final Fantasy games in order two years ago, and was pleasantly surprised that XI was still very active....
Haven't gotten to XII yet :x
I remember when people would just /shout. Now they all /yell and /shout at the same time. Because apparently it's unclear how /yell works.
i remember when zoning in to the citadel would haf the time net you a bat trane to the face, or a serkit to the face from the goop that zoned them.
also when astral rings were in coffer chests
I remember when each hit of a weaponskill gave full tp. Thanks for getting it nerfed, monks.
I remember when xp for an IT++ capped out at 200 (pre-chain).
I remember not being able to make a party because the lfg list looked like (give or take 10 dd jobs):

the joys of gobbie pets on blm
I remember when a sub-forum on IGN.com was the best source of tips and information for FFXI.
I remember this because it was a time when asking a question in the game, about the game, got more of a response then "its on the wiki".
I remember when the game was so bad and a torturous ordeal to get anything done, and everything is taking a very long time for non sensical time sink argument. And then I am very grateful that the past is dead and buried and we no longer have to deal with all the "I remember" shit-stained rose colored glass memory.
I remember spawning Marchelute and marching him either to the Konschtat zone or Selbina and seeing how high the kill count was. There was a (now-deleted) comment on zam complaining about my work. My one dream of spawning SAM AF3 and WHM AF1 NMs was never realized :(
I also remember the never-ending monster trains in CN, Yuhtunga, and Yhoator. Bonus points if someone zoned a Knight Crawler or a Tonberry. That sure showed those lv75 white knights.
I'm also part of the grizzled CoP veterans club who spent millions of gil on meds and spent so much time formulating the perfect strategy to get past Ouryu, mithra BC, and U/O
I remember the time that whenever a Tonberry was pulled to the Yuhtunga Jungle zoneline, it killed most Parties in Yhoator until someone took care of it. Same goes for that Shadow NM in the Dunes, would mess a lot of people up. Sometimes I wish SE didn't make it so mobs disappeared...
I remember when no one ever wanted to have a BST in their pt, so I played solo always. (Waaaaiitttt...I still play solo. Hmmm).
I also remember when the name of my server was Garuda....
i got a few
Remember when....
1) people had to shout for a citidel gate breach
2) shouts for teleport were: base teleporting was 500g and xar and jungle was 1000g
3) people death warped out of yhotoar jungle as there was "no way back".
4) bst actually killed party exp cuz pets had an exp reduction penitly on them.
if they summoned thier pets.
I remember when you could get hit by AoE's from other parties monsters, and seeing people zone out of kazham getting killed by gob bombs promptly getting off their chocobos then dying.
I remember before block aid when people cure bombed main tanks to steal nm/hnms
I remember when they first announced the ability to depop non nm's and making mad profit off gold beast coins in bibiki bay.
I remember when people exped in bibiki bay and i pulled on thief (and made a killing off gold beast coins)
I remember when chocobos from mea could cost up to 10k because every one rode them out to bibiki bay.
I remember when they nerfed steal because RMT were abusing 3rd party tools to rapidly steal platinum beast coins... that was when i was trying to beat maat for the first time as a thief.
I remember feeling badass for pulling off a melee victory on thf maat (since i didnt have a choice)
I remember when SE kept nerfing NIN tanking and failing to prevent NIN tanking (lol)
I remember when leveling was a BITCH, and just getting to LV10 was a Major accomplishment, and Parting it up in Valkrum <3
i remember when call wyvern was a 2hr and when you got a party request you would get asked "is your 2hr active?
Mifaco's shadow absorbs the damage and disappears.
Mifaco blocks the Dynamis Lord's attack with his shield.
I remember when you could only OP warp out to a zone after you became to high a level to actually get a party there.
I remember Bibiki Bay meripo parties , I also remember Aht Urghan as the new Jeuno when it came out...
I remember BLM never got invited to lolibri parties
I remember when the cap was 50 and the items had an even lower drop rate ...
valkrum dunes wasn't always level 10 to warp to think it used to be 20 or something stupid like that it was only a few years ago when they changed levels for op warps.
I remember waiting for Wal Mart to get in PS2 HDDs. They were always behind on release dates where I grew up.
I remember when I could use Beastmaster to MPK people. That was the reason I leveled it.
I remember zoning a Tonberry Shadower to Kazham where it started a new life as the local butcher.
Those were the days. Dark and dickish days of wonder. Wonder and dickishness.
I remember when Samurai was one of the gimpest jobs...
I remember at the same time, Warrior* was even gimpier than Samurai...
*Ridill war was the exception
I remember when making Relics was hard, and even took an entire ls working on a single member's Relic.
I remember during the beta you could ride Chocobos in Garlaige. I have a SS around here somewhere of someone riding a chocobo in front of Serket.
I remember "Welcome to Seraph!" being displayed on my screen...
When black mage's best body piece was an Errant Body.
When summoners were gimp white mages.
When Chains of Promathia came out... on my birthday! :D And the Promyvions were evil. ;~; Capped at 30, had to have 18 people to kill the Memory Refluxes, and only gave us about 5 seconds to teleport up before the light vanished. The fights were almost impossible without half the party being summoner or ranger.
I got lost with all the expansive areas to go to. I literally don't recall where I am in the story, but for some reason I am in a sewer where everything rapes me stating I'm obviously in a place I don't belong.
On topic:
I remember when soloing prime avatars on rdm was "whoa" material since pretty much anyone who came with always got killed by the 2hour where as it would be lucky to break my stoneskin. I remember when lining up a skill chain with a thf required people not to move around like goobers because there was no assassin trait. I remember the first tp burn pt's being in KRT, same for Mana-burn PT's. I remember when drg were so widely popular because penta-thrust gave back exorbitant amount of TP.
I remember when I used to pull Damsleflies to the 'secret room' in Crawler's nest in a level sync party on SAM, and a few exorays wanted to join in.
I remember when I first was able to access Sea , somebody in my LS typed "Tera, where the hell is Al'Taieu ?"
