I expected something like that to come about with WotG expansion; I was let down. I still don't understand why mobs in the past didn't have a chance to drop some.
3>1 conversation for currency? Can you explain how this would be beneficial to anyone please? I'm sure you'll find someone who will gladly give you 1 bronze piece for 3 of your bynes.
Dynamis currency was already made easier to get. If you're still complaining you probably don't deserve a relic nor know how to use one.
Story-wise it was ancient currency in the era WotG takes place too. The Crystal War was 30 years in the past. Ancient currency comes from a much, much earlier time.
You can receive ancient currency from Union coffers however. It's just a really random system, and there's pretty much no way you could rely on it, if you were actually needing it.
Who's complaining? <.< I only see a suggestion for a method of conversion, obviously obtaining isn't a problem. I don't know if SE would take the time to research/implement this or not. If they did I'd hope they wouldn't use a 3>1 rate.
--anywho
Yeah, I had just thought that as time had passed since then Beastmen may have unearthed some ancient currency and would have a chance(rare) to drop it and that would also be why it would sometimes appear in union coffers. (note: I'm not suggesting they be changed to drop it now, this was just a thought back when WotG was released.)
actually crystal war is 20 years in the past, where the tri country expidition into xarcabar was 30 years in the past. Also if i recall dynamis lore... They are rements of the shadow lords memories of the crystal war. where the second tier dynamis is his dreams based around diablos. (guessing)
but honestly I agree with the suggestion. I wouldn't rely on players trading for coins. People are too gil centric for bartering.
as a person who did dynamis @ 75 when it was launched, currency was fairly easy to get, just people sold it via LS banks to fund runs back when the item needed was $$$ unless ur LS charged a fee per run. So an exchange npc would be pretty cool. The weapon itself takes so much time to get already seeing someone with it was rare.. Like back whenh garuda was a server.. only I recall actually having any relics was WWCC an elvaan. other them him i didn't really see anyone with relic weapons.
can you just stop thread following me please your only making yourless look bad. I think your harrassed me enough don't you think. No need to constently post to counter everything I said just because you feel the need for attention. I more then understand your dislike for me. Just please move on.
It depends what he means by "another kind." If you could exchange 3 Whiteshells for 1 Alexandrite, that would be profit at the moment on Lakshmi.
Still, I doubt he made the OP with the 3:1 ratio locked in.
I'll be happy to fill in those shoes to fit your paranoia of people following you to harass you.
Moving along, You're wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong wrong.
Wrongity wrong wrong.
Ahem... When i was making my relic, Most of my currency came from trades. People are very willing to trade Currency 1 for 1, You just have to find someone who's needing the currency you have. I traded Ords for Bynes, Bynes for Tukus, etc etc. Shout to sell or trade, and you'll probably get a good chunk of trades.
That out of the way, I'd like to just toss out that I support this idea. It seems reasonable. In the Crystal War Era, they were still using Ancient Currency, They were slowly making the transition to Jeuno Currency (Gil). So there should still technically be a good chunk of Ancient currency flying around in the Crystal War era. A system like this would be nice.
Is it 100% needed? I don't think so, But it would be a nice convenience. It would also help level the Currency market in prices, since all currency would be interchangeable. But then you have to think of it like this... If all currency could be traded for the other, People would just flood the easiest Dynamis zone to farm currency... yes, People would do that. It would cause some issues and SE would like not like the idea of it...
People would still picks zones they need for X crap (-1 Relic, Touches/Etc, Exp trials)... But all that aside, those after pure currency would flood to the easiest zone to farm and blow it up, and just take the currency and trade it in for whatever.
Then again, Being able to trade any currency for eachother would stop people from being forced into one zone for their current stage and be able to pick any zone to farm depending on how packed they are.
Honestly, theres a lot of negatives and positives, its a tough call.
I save my gil for making it hail on Mithras and Tarus. *chucks out a handful* ~.^
Seriously though, I have never been fond of selling one currency just to buy the one I need. Throughout the years, I've only bought from LSmates/friends that are sailing at a reduced price because they don't need. Other than that, I tried to shout to find someone to trade out 1:1. Yes, it does take a lot longer my way, but I'm in no rush; I enjoy the game. :D
I would also support a 1:1 conversion NPC; perhaps to follow the lore a beastmen or other NPC could be placed in the Shadow Realm that would offer the service.
just because I said people are too gil centric doesn't mean nobody does it.... just not something to rely on. Play ffxiv sometime to really understand what I mean. Crafters don't really craft for profit and filling the market with gear. They max out crafts for themselves even though the game is dependent on crafters.
Also there is already a few exchanges such as imp coins, and now the seals. So this idea already works just need to make an npc.
And last I seen people barely do dynamis... or i rarely see anyone enter them. maybe 1 person every few weeks. Idk if it increased since I was a way. But Anyway... Instead of making urself look bad... ask what i mean, then take it for face value. Just cuz i said ppl are gil centric (which they are) doesn't mean i said "no body every trades for currency" just at times ppl would rather sell currency they have to buy currency they need.
Thats the dumbest thing I've heard all day. All currency prices would be exactly the same, because you could trade any of it for other. None of them would be more expensive. And even if there was only 1 type of currency for sale, you could exchange it for the others anyway.
Why do you offend so easy? And you call me going down the list of "recently posted threads" is me stalking you? Not my fault you post everywhere.
I was sincere when I said Ive only bought Hex gear and food off the AH in, like, years.
Oh and I guess reraise earrings?
I do not support this. The current method of exchange by your bazaar means there's always a massive pool of available currency for everyone.
@shadow, stop stalking you're weird dude.
@rosa, try not worry bout morons so much.
On topic I agree with the OP on a conversion npc, while I do not feel it's 100% needed, it could be something nifty for those times you really need to find a particular type of currency in mass yet can't find them or at a reasonable price. Also it would stabilize currency prices which is welcomed in my book, it's easier to gauge Gil cost when currency is all the same price <3
While were on the topic of currency npcs, I'd kill someone for a universal trade npc, having to travel to 3 different out of the way places is annoying somedays lol.
I have no problem with an exchange NPC, but why would it have to be 3:1? make it like real currency, where the supply of one dictates its rate of exchange. That way yes, if 3 times as many bynes are being traded in as whiteshells then it WILL be 3:1, but you could also end up with ratios like 5:4 and the like. One more economic tool for those that know how to play it, the money market. I would say it would help prepare you for real life but many of you losers are taking pride in having a relic... instead of a $625k house-as your vacation home.
Seriously, take some time off, for a concert, a good meal, a good lay and a good book
There's plenty of competition. You're not blindly looking through every bazaar because the vast majority use FFXiAH to check out who's selling what in their Bazaar. If you made currency tradeable then it would take most of the currency out of the market.
I realise its not a good thing that people have to use FFXIAH and ffxiclopedia to play this game, but thats how it is.
But yeah, putting currency on the AH would be the best solution. I don't know why they have bazaar only items.
I am most deffinately looking in bazaars. If there was a sence of competition, the prices would be going down.
I don't see how a currency exchange would hurt anything. Relics are old news anyway.
