I know D: but you don't actually see phoenix in game if I remember, just feathers
You can see Phoenix flying in Attowha Chasm
i didn't say "no" beni, so please stop being a troll.
i said it's unlikely. i guess SE is the "no-police" as well, when it comes to bahamut becoming a summon for the job. he's on the same poster. SE has also stated that we're getting atomos and cait-sith at some point in the future as avatars. no mention of phoenix.
Doubt we'll see Phoenix again unless there's another mass killing spree occuring after what Tenzen said in CoP.
No it's not on top of the mountain, it flies around the zone. If you sit where Tiamat usually spawns point your camera up and wait you'll see it fly by every so often. No this is not a troll.
if they give us Phoenix I suspect we will need to first somehow quest Tenzen's sword, then kill a lot of enemies with it, since they made it clear to resurrect a phoenix you would have to spill a lot of blood, it would be super cool if they made it so we could get her though, she is one of the few Avatars I really want
Tenzin had phoenix in his blade the white kid from COP fused with phoenix to beat promithia , in Abyssea the alt dimension you lost to prom and it assimilated phoenix and turned into shinryu?
least thats what i understood form my ENTER SPAM of COP and abyssea?
I always assumed Promathia also assimilated Bahamut in Abyssea, because eating an emo and a bird usually doesn't equal dragon in my mind. But yeah, thats the general gist of it.
If they were to add Phoenix, I think it should be like in FFVIII rather than as an actual summon. For those of you who are ignorant: "Phoenix is a "semi-Guardian Force" in Final Fantasy VIII and can only be summoned by using a Phoenix Pinion during battle at least once. Afterwards, Phoenix will randomly appear when all the party members have been knocked out or afflicted with the Petrify status, with a 65/256 chance (25.4%) to save the player from a Game Over."
Your alliance wipes and just as your about to HP, a flaming bird flies overhead and gives everyone Arise II (Arise + no weakness). Far more epic than anything SMN will ever be able or allowed to offer. Could quite easily add a quest that requires "The Last Verse" in which we fight Selh'teus and as a reward we get an item similar to the Pinion in FFVIII. Could be used at the start of a fight as wipe insurance and you have to do the fight again to get another, or it could just be a one time thing.
They could do something similar to that for Bahamut actually. Their reason for not giving it to SMN was that he is too powerful (fairly redundant argument given Odin/Alex), giving him to effectively every player kind of avoids that issue, though that might not even be required. Would be nice if Bahamut, at the very least, worked like Primals will in FFXIV. You fight him, you can summon him, you have to fight him again to summon him again. Very basic rundown of FFXIVs future system, but I am a bit concerned that wont work well for every summon, having it like that for just one in FFXI would certainly give Bahamut that awesome feeling he deserves.
just wanted to point out that phoenix is on the box art for the Xpac. safe to say hes gonna play a part i think if theyre dropping this many hints.
No she isn't. There is no flaming bird on there, just a Zapdos.
They've not dropped any hints either. A poster with ALL the avatars on it hardly constitutes as a hint, by that logic Leviathan will play a part in this expansion because Levi is on that poster and there are numerous generic sea serpents on the expansions art work.
And what, prey tell, would the rest of her moves consist of? Phoenix is typically a one trick pony, that doesn't justify a fully fledged summon at all. Even in CoP the most she does is one fire ball then she's out for the rest of the expansion.
Fighting Phoenix is totally different than summoning him. Aside from being able to BP an AOE Auto-Arise, Phoenix really wouldn't offer much. As a battle, I could see it being fun, to a point, but how many times would you let an NM reraise itself?
Point being, SE will always be SE, and any new summon will be a one trick pony. Summoning as a whole would need to be adjusted to change that.
Well thats good, because I'm not talking about summoning Phoenix? I'm sorry but you've lost me, fighting Phoenix? I suggested fighting Selh'teus for a Pinion which works in almost the exact same way as FFVIII.
Granted that could easily be adapted to work in the exact same way as Perfect Defense and Zantetsuken, but I remember a time when people were outraged by the idea of a 2Hr summon and a 2Hr summon for Arise alone just seems silly, if it came to that I'd probably just scold the SMN for not using PD before wiping.
That said, my suggestion would require substantially more work just to have it function correctly, but I think it would be worth it just for how epic it would be to randomly have Phoenix pop by and unwipe your alliance. No player action require apart from completing the quest. Other than technical issues there is really no reason not to do something like this, it has no impact on job balance and its a far greater reward for a story arc than a stupid earring.
Few things. Spoilers ahead.
Phoenix is not in Attohwa Chasm. She's dead right now. Of all avatars, Phoenix is the one that's dead, and her spirit is in Tenzen's blade.
Secondly, in real life, fire is more yellow than red, and Phoenix is more yellow than red in her first appearance:

And no design has been released of her in FFXI, so the color of the bird in that art is irrelevant, Sotek. Also, Phoenix is rarely made entirely of fire in the FF series. Look it up on the FF wiki.
