Question about Upheaval / Resolution / Ruinator and WAR.

LS mate working on WAR and asked questions about the best merit WS. He's working towards an Ukon and has no plans for a Relic GAXE.

Looking over there three, for the interim.

Resolution
4.59375 fTP (all 5 hits no DA) 100% STR
Jingang GSWD for 5-hit

Upheaval
4.0 fTP (would it be better to use VIT belt / gorget due to no copy fTP?) 4-hit 100% VIT
Magian WS+10% GAXE? / OaT GAXE? (no idea what the best non-RME would be here)

Ruinator (/NIN ~shudder~)
6.0 fTP with five hits, 100% STR, 37% attack bonus
Magian Fire Axes? (Not sure if there are better options for this)

I'm only including the Axe one due to it's retarded fTP, STR mod and Shoha like attack bonus (on all hits).

Again this is an temp solution until he makes an Ukon. Upheaval looks really weak compared to the other two, is there some special setup that makes it stronger?

Guessing he hasn't done nyzul so took out rheic/phorcys, Resolution w/ Jingang will do better on weaker mobs and Str telamon with upheaval on stronger mobs (or on say T3 VW if you're not maintaining buffs, if you are probably better off with resolution as long as ally isn't dragging ass causing buffs to drop constantly). Attack penalty hurts resolution quite abit on stronger mobs since war isn't stacking zerk and LR.

I don't feel like checking Ruinator until home from work, would take awhile.

Also what level of gear are we talking about? Augmented Shadow breastplate level of abyssea / voidwatch level? I'm asking cause it does no good to outline a build that isn't reachable until well past when this guys' got his Ukon. I'm looking for VIT WS gear and not coming up with many amazing pieces outside twilight, what are some of the things this guys gotta start collecting?

Real basic gear as in bare bones set imo, Grim cuirrass /twilight body relic+2 emp+2 etc, if he has ogier's legs and needs acc use that, same deal with Avant+1. Terasoul ring/Spiral/Apathy/Warwolf for Upheaval, same basic barebones set for Reso but used Mekira head and Avant+1 legs.

Also, how does Draca Couse and Stardiver compare?

Hmm forgot WAR could use that PLM.

I know for SAM Draca Couse + StarDiver is a freaking beast.
3.8 fTP on 4 hits, 100% STR for StarDiver
4.0 fTP 4 hits 100% VIT for Upheaval
4.59375 fTP 5 hits 100% STR, -8% attack for Resolution

Hmm now we're down to the acc / atk difference from each of those weapons and what you have access to.

Ok playing with the DPS sheets, I get Res slightly, very slightly ahead of Fire Magian Upheaval. Once you start uncapping accuracy though the GAXE pulls ahead due to it's 18 higher acc. Though resolution still does more WS damage the Fire GAXE has higher melee dps. Save TP / Monarchs and buffs favor the Jing Res over the Fire Upheaval.

Conclusion would be that a Jing Res setup would work as a good stand-in until he gets his Ukon. He doesn't have bother with building a Fire GAXE that'll be replaced with something far superior.

Only because time/money spent on another magian weapon is time that could have spent on ukon (at least with one handers you can dual wield). After ukon is done at least you can sell back the jingang/draca couse (Axe would need either magian weapon or possibly pulse weapon to be competitive on harder mobs imo).

draca couse is good for sam because:
-GK have low base dmg
-couse have "higher" delay =>better hit build than with GK
-GK WS are only good when you have "low" attack

if SE add a new polearm WAR can equip SD can be a good option, draca is too low to be a good option

No fundamental difference between WAR and SAM in this respect. SAM's use Draca + SD because Shoha has a glass ceiling once you start throwing on large amounts of attack buffs. WAR's have slightly better options for WS, including both Res and the awesomeness that is an Ukon.

Pretty much, even with a Fire magian GAXE it gets very close, almost entirety depending on buffs and how pimped your gear is. Jing's strongest asset is it's 504 delay which makes getting a 5-hit only require ~45 sTP in TP gear and ~20 in WS gear. Once you include /SAM your looking at 30 sTP for TP and whatever the heck you want in Ws gear.

TP:
Sub: Rose +4
Neck: Hyouris +3
Ear1: Brutal +1
Body: Ravagers +2 +8
Ring1: Tyrant +4
Ring2: Rajas +5
Waist: Goading +5

Those are all piss easy to get with the neck being the absolute "hardest" to get. Could put on a White tathlim instead and get the same overall result. Makes for a great "starter" set that won't get you embarrassed. Good news is they both share most of the same WS gear, so whatever effort is put into the res build will eventually spill over to the Ukon build.

WAR in my LS with 5/5 Shattersoul is outparsing Ukon WARs and Verethagmna MNKs in T5 VW with the Crystal Staff, parsing like 3.5kish Shattersouls on average(he has Ukon too but he swears that he gets more consistantly high damage with it, and he uses it for fun, though he only has 85 Ukon). He used it in Nyzul too against the final floor 100 boss with Mighty Strikes up and did like 6k with it.

id need to see gear sets etc for that to even be 1/2 viable.

on the side note you can push some sick upheavals with the right gear and MS.

i run a upheaval war with almost done building vit tom gaxe my ws set is mekeri (nq off ah) body twilight helm apathy gorget terrosoul/spinal relic+2 feet and legs delirum feet from pil and the rest is rounded out with da. and i put up in the 3.5k range spikes in the high 4ks(4.7k-4.9k) in aby i avg around 4k with spikes of over 6k. with ms up in aby my spike was over 8k with my highest being over 10k with drk sub with ms lr zerk se warcry up. hope this helps some. this is by no means top notch gear for this ws i have a few pieces id like to tweak like shadow breastplate or ares body change my belt to warewolf and a couple other piece but yeah it doe good. ppl always checking me when i first show up to a party and start droping 4-5k ws almost constantly.

With the advent of Delve definitively making Ukko's Fury pretty much useless, anyone have a current WS set for Upheaval? :D Including all the Delve/Colonization(bayld) gear you can get. Is it as simple as stacking VIT for the most part? XD Also, is it worth for 5/5 Upheaval after the update, or 3/5 sufficient? :P

Will probably need ACC too depending on what you're fighting.
