Where does the boat in Norg go to??

Someone must know!

I've always wondered this.

I started a thread a while back about spots like that in game that are somewhat obvious gateways to other areas. Like remember when there was actually a big boulder in Gusgen Mines blocking the now entrance to Movalpolos?

I would assume they put it there as a possible route to get to the far East where Tenzen originates from. Or maybe it's just a simple dock where they like to hide their pirate ship.

It attacks the ship that goes between Selbina / Mhaura.

It goes to all the awesome places we'll never be able to.

It's the same ship that sometimes attacks on the ferry between mhaura / selbina.

Prove that it's the same ship.

The ship looks identical to the one that attacks, Norg is a pirate haven, and it's clearly a pirate ship.

It technically could be a different ship that just happens to look the same. But it's the only reasonable explanation available within the content of the game.

Not to mention that Final Fantasy has always done better with implied and suggested truths over the stated ones.

He could always try to test the time difference (in game and RL) between Norg ship departures and the Mha/Sel ship....

My point is that it is nothing more then an assumption, there's nothing to validate it in the game other then that fact that every boat in this looks the same.

There's a quest which requires you to find the charm of some womans dead husband. The charm drops off the skeletons the pirates spawn and the dead husband is a NPC in Norg suffering from amnesia, iirc. Pretty sure their is mention of a pirate attack when talking to him (or one of the NPCs nearby), though I don't remember if it mentions the Norg pirates attacking or another group of pirates.

Ingame lore backs up the fact that the Norg pirates are infact the very same individuals attacking the ferry.

Between the references to necromancy, the ship looking the same, the place being a den for pirates and the summoned monsters having pirate-y names, it's no assumption to conclude this.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the pirate ferry is a different color than the ferry the player rides on between the cities.

There are no skeletons walking around Norg. All the pirates that attack the ferries are skeletons. In this, skeletons and the enlightened races do not interact, so they would not be sharing the dock at Norg. End of story.

Never seen any work of fiction where ghosts ships dock either. They wander the seas forever.

The norg ship literally just comes right back after it leaves. It's not even gone long enough to have gone anywhere.

Maybe they have more than one pirate ship?!

The skeletons are summoned by the pirates on their own ship. When they attack you can clearly see some dudes run out on deck and do a summoning animation right before the skeletons spawn.

I was under the impression that the ship went to Candied Island.

Looks like there is a way to get down to the dock but a npc is blocking the path so my guess it was planned for some other content long time ago that SE has not used yet. maby boat to mithra homeland?

That ship, actually has a quite long history. Most of it was training a group of indigents on the east coast of Africa, who actually turned on Gilgamesh and ran them off to a distant new land. Its original name is unknown, but at one point, Gilgamesh ordered 96 quite bitter ninjas to equip the old barnicle bucket with the means to fly (mainly because normal waterbourne ship piracy wasnt bringing in as much since the introduction of airships). Anyhoo, it worked for a bit, but the flying mechanism failed over North Gustaberg, and by what seemed to be a stroke of luck, it landed in the river atop Drachenfall. The negative side is that it actually went OVER Drachenfall and was disabled for several weeks in the river below. Bastokers mocked the failure and nick-named the ship "Cirrhosis of the River", mainly because when this happened, Drachenfall couldn't flow like it used to, and the erosion formed a cave under the falls.

After that, they went back to what they knew... Summoning Skeletons onto passenger ships, which has horrible profits. The drastically low profits did help them in the long run, however. It forced Gilgamesh to find other means of making precious gil. He found that by the creative minds at the "Norg Internal Ninjutsu Jeopardous Association". N.I.N.J.A. answered Gilgamesh's call with the development of a vast array of new ninjutsu, and a more convenient set of tools that were fairly universal.

So next time your inventory isn't so full, thank the failure of the "Cirrhosis of the River".

part of the story the NPCs in Norg tell you mention that ship attacks and raids other ships, and the pirates on the ship that attack the Selbina/Mhuara ships has no skeletons on it and if you watch closely the skeletons appear only on the deck of the ship they are attacking, and from the looks of it they are summoned there, so it has to be assumed the NPCs on the pirate ship are Necromancers

so I say this, prove that ship in Norg isn't the pirates attacking, it is all assumption both ways except for there is more in the story pointing toward that being them than not

Guys.

The ship is obviously the Lunar Whale from FFIV. It can travel to the moon.
The reason there is no evidence of this in-game is that it is a well-kept Norg secret because there is a HUGE bounty to be harvested on the moon and they risk no chance of anyone else finding out about it.

To confirm this, somebody just has to kidnap Gilgamesh and question him about the Rift and how he used it to siphon matter out of the world of FFIV. If we're lucky he'll give us Ex-death's phone number and we can ask him about it ourselves.

SE was at one time really considering a necromancer job but concluded it wouldn't fit in with the other classes in FFXI because the job would control the dead. Instead, it was concluded that Puppetmaster would feel like a more Final Fantasy job.

Eh i rather enjoy playing as pup FYI, its really fairly flexible and not a bad dd, just not the best.

interesting part is, along with Geomancer, Necromancer was one of the most asked for jobs on a couple of forums, I still want Necromancer, we got Scholar which could be considered a pseudo Geomancer

Also there is an NPC in Norg that says (pretty much):

"We use a form of magic to bring back the souls of the dead to attack other vessels. It's a bit different than the summoning magic you adventurers use."

Which means the NPC confirms they summon the dead to attack and that Norg is the base of these pirate attacks, which also means that it's the most logical thing to assume that the ship that departs Norg is also the ship that attacks ferrys.
