Idea for new merits under "OTHERS" category

I have been looking at my merits and wondered why the OTHERS category was so small in options and was wondering if there could be more added to it.

Most of the stuff that came to mind was the following...

Save TP + 2/4/6/8/10
Conserve TP +2/4/6/8/10
Conserve MP +2/4/6/8/10
Occult Accumen +1%/2%/3%/4%/5%
TP Bonus +5/10/15/20/25
Block Rate +1%/2%/3%/4%/5%
Fast Cast +1%/2%/3%/4%/5%
Haste +1%/2%/3%/4%/5%

And to finish it off maybe allow 15 total points into it up from 10 points.

Any thoughts or additions?


Edit #1: Took Store TP out since Samurai get this under job specific merits.

cure potency would be the only other i could think of.

Only if they actually let us merit all of them. Choosing 2 from 5 was already painful, choosing 2 from 12 is just torture.

Clear Mind, Magic Burst Bonus, Skill chain Bonus might be some others to consider. Could also consider Magic Defense bonus but then you run into the call why isn't Attack bonus or magic attack bonus there. Either way any of these would be a welcome upgrade to merits!

I'd actually remove haste from that list. I can see that actually being overpowered (even if you only count it as gear-haste).

Also, I think it'd be better to have those in a separate grouping from the current ones.

Occult Accumen would be kinda nice to have on BLU

Resist status effect +

each 5 points max, max of 10 merits total

why not Delay - instead of Haste?

Movement speed, +1% per merit level

Remove things that other jobs already have under job specific like Store TP. Should be traits that no job has already for other:

HP healed while resting
MP healed while resting
Fast Cast
Magic Evasion
Defense
Magic Defense
Cure Potency
etc

Delay - is a good alternative. Only thing I can see being annoying (at least for my warrior) is the less TP/hit from it.

Wouldn't work. Doesn't work BLU/DRK.

Most of those are traits specific to jobs they shouldn't be included.

Others should be traits etc accessible by all naturally just like the current ones are.

So TP Bonus+ I'd say sure to, but in that list that is all.

Probably because it only applies to elemental magic, afaik. No reason it couldn't be changed for a merit category.

When I said job specific, I meant merits that already belong to a job. Store TP is a SAM group 1 merit. Fast Cast is not meritable by anyone.

As you are commenting on putting things that other jobs don't have as traits:

Mage jobs have MP healed while resting
Red Mage and Blue Mage have fast cast, White Mage has it for -na spells, black mage has it for elemental magic
Paladin, Warrior and Blue Mage have Defense bonus
White Mage, Red Mage, and Blue Mage have magic defense bonus

Blue Mage has everything, but native it has none.

I'd be fine for meriting superfluous stuff like enhanced radar or low-lvl widescan for all jobs that can't make use of either already.

That and a working /sprint, but I'd rather not have to merit something that should be a core function of the game, rather than locked behind a consensual PVP-mode.

Currently there aren't any plans to drastically expand the types of merit points available. However, we do plan on adding merits that aren't extremely ("tipping the scales") powerful, but that will have specific uses and be useful in different ways. That said, we do appreciate additional suggestions and comments.

But seriously, I'm hoping they address RDM merits first, before adding new ones. Both groups are a serious disappointment right now.

Just some ideas.

Perhaps they could add into the 'Other' category: Rate of Parry/Guard activation, Weapon-skill accuracy. Maybe even a merit to increase the effect of Stun/Terror/Break abilities/spells.

Waltz Recast timer? 2% Per Merrit so possible 10% >_>
